good maternity pants & underwear?

i am having the hardest time finding some decent maternity pants. went to my local consignment shop today that had TONS of them, but they were all ugly or wrong size. then went to target and they had some liz lange jeans that were pretty cute on, but $30 is a lot for me to spend on something i'm going to wear for 5 months. anyone finding anything cute out there? preferably jeans, cargo pants or soft cotton workout-style (with wide legs).
secondly did you just get bigger size underwear or actual "maternity" underwear?

I came here to ask the same question about underwear while pregnant. I've never bought them but I've been considering it.

I have jeans from Motherhood and I HATE THEM. My most successful maternity clothes purchases have always been from consignment. Hopefully someone else will have some good ideas because I am 10 weeks away from having my sixth baby and have yet to buy new pants that don't make me uncomfortable.

Consignment is your best bet. Mostly because the pants that fit me decently I paid a lot for (and am wearing for my second pregnancy) would love to have more kids just to wear the pants again since I paid so much, but it's not in the future.

I think Kohls and I got some decent jeans at Burlington Coat Factory. the problem is the lycra. Too tight in the morning and hanging around my knees by the end of the day!

As for underwear, both times I just wore regular bikini underwear. I gained 45+ pounds with my first, and at the very end I bought some granny panties from Old Navy. Oh yeah, Old Navy might have some decent pants for cheap. I usually by stuff when it's 5$ shipping and it's on sale.

I can't help with the pants...I willingly spent more money on my maternity pants than I should have.

But as for underwear, I never bought maternity underwear. Just low rise and stretchy, worn from pre-pregnancy through the pregnancy and post-pregnancy (and now into pregnancy again).

I actually love the ones from Old Navy but they run huuuuuge so you definitely should try them on first. But they are super comfortable and kind of stylish, too.

I did okay with Old Navy and Kohl's for pants. waited for sales & used coupons & discounts. Old Navy pants run large though usually, so I read the reviews & ordered one size down. That worked for everything except low rise jeans, which were depressingly tight. lol

jcpenney has maternity jeans too, and I think you can find coupons floating around the internet or they mail them to you

Old Navy and Gap are my favorites. ON has great sales pretty often.

My fave maternity pants-- that I wear even when not pregnant-- are the pants that come in the poly/ spandex "sets" motherhood sells online-- though I agree the rest of the motherhood pants are stinkers. But I love, love these pants.

Underwear is tough. I like "granny"maternity undies and they don't seem to even sell these anymore. I hate bikinis/ thongs. Generally I buy big, non-maternity "brief" undies and use those.

I've actually had pretty good luck with the "Oh Baby by motherhood" brand of jeans and capris. I bought the capris and the pants from Kohls. They fit decent enough, and are pretty comfy. NOT very cheap though...I think each pair cost almost 30 dollars. I begrudgingly paid that for one khaki, one denim, and one black dressy pair. I tried to justify it by the fact that I'll likely be able to use these for pregnancies in the future.

Ideally I'd love to buy maybe 2-3 pair of maternity "comfy pants" (like yoga pants), at least one more pair of jeans, and maybe another work pant pair....but I really cant justify spending THAT much money on clothes that I'll use for such a short period of time. Its such a bummer that the maternity market is so expensive.

I really like the Yoga pants/capris. You know, the ones with the fold down stretchy waist....Love them.

Other than that I bought one pair of the Target maternity jeans for my last pregnancy and I really liked them. I hate the over belly panels...yuck!

I also had some luck with regular low waisted styles too. I'm still looking for a few pieces for this time around.

As far as underwear, I prefer the boy short style..I just have to go up a size

I would like to not recommend the Be Maternity leggings from Target. I've only worn them twice and am ready to throw them out. I've read reviews of them on the Target site so I know I'm not the only one with this issue: they slowly creep down as you walk. There's no stopping it. After trying to pull them up for the 20th time, it's time to give up. I don't know what the reason is but I think maybe the belly part just isn't elastic/tight enough.

As for undies, I haven't had to buy any new ones but I only wear low-cut panties so they fit perfectly under the bulging belly.

Motherhood underwear has been great for me both pregnancies and Gap jeans are the ONLY ones i can get that fit, feel great, and make me feel attractive and not frumpy! Unfortunately they are like 70 bucks each, but if you look in consignments or ebay they hold up really great!

as for comfy and not too terrible looking yoga type pants I got some from Target. They are wide legged and so comfy! I got brown and i have some capris of the same kind from the summer. They are on sale (or were last week) for $11. I wore the capri ones all summer and they still look great. They come in a few colors. brown, black, grey, and I think Navy blue. anyways I love them!

as for undies I just wear my normal "hipster" style panties...maybe a size up. I have mine from Layne Bryant and I love them.

I went to a consignment sale the other day and found Motherhood cords that are really comfy! I hate shopping at Motherhood itself because their return policy is total crap, but if I find a deal on something at consignment (these were $3) I will snatch it up and if it doesn't fit, I'm only out a couple bucks and I can just re-consign it.

With my previous pregnancies i bough my maternity jeans and under wear from Motherhood.

I buy the yoga style band jeans, i hate the full panel kind.

just wanted to say i made a real score at old navy, got a pair of cargo style pants that were on sale and then they were an extra 40% off, so the ended up being $8!!! all maternity sale stuff is an extra 40% off right now so check it out!!! also found two shirts on the clearance rack at target for $2 & $3. i was sooo excited!!!! it just stinks because the maternity clearance stuff is just mixed in with the rest of the clearance stuff so you have to search, it's worth it though, there were quite a few maternity things mixed in.

Have to throw in a big for Gap. When I was pregnant 9 years ago with dd, I purchased a pair of bootcut maternity jeans. They were about $50 back in the day. Wore them almost daily.

Wore them through the latter half of my second pregnancy with dc#2.

And, this time around I can't believe how well they've held up and that they are still stylish! I've completely gotten my money's worth out of the Gap jeans, Gap dress pants, Gap long dress skirt and Gap denim skirt. Everything else I bought is crap in comparison.

Not usually a huge fan of the Gap, but I will definitely stand behind their maternity clothes.

I just wanted to throw in that Motherhood recently changed their return policy-- just in the last month. They allow actual returns now, not just exchange/store credit. I went in for some long sleeve shirts (only had short sleeve from my previous summer pregnancies) and jeans. I was able able to return the jeans no problem. It's still not very long- only 30 days I think- but better than it was!

Thank you so much for posting, that is really good to know! I sometimes see something I like there but I don't feel comfortable buying something that isn't guaranteed. Thanks again
