I just found out today that a former housemate (up until I came to China) and someone I considered a good friend is pregnant and due around Christmas. We haven't really kept in close touch this year, but we've exchanged a handful of emails just saying hello and asking about housing stuff. I found out from a belly pic on FB...a little hurt that she didn't tell me. She's also using the midwife I've communicated with a little, though I can't say anything bad on that account. The office is a block from the house! I just have to keep reminding myself that it's not a competition and my time will come soon. I just feel left behind sometimes and that everything I do is a copy of someone else.

One consolation, I guess, is that when I eventually get pregnant I'll be the first person I know IRL to plan a homebirth for the first baby. It might be our only one, so I'm going to do it how I want!

Jolly, that totally sucks about finding about your friend's pregnancy like that. I had something incredibly similar happen to me, finding out about a friend's pregnancy shortly before she had her baby. Just like you, it was occasional emails to someone I thought was a good friend, to keep in touch, and I mentioned that DH and were thinking about starting a family and she replied w/ 'oh by the way, i'm pregnant and due in like 2 weeks'. I was totally shocked and hurt and jealous. I'm pretty sure if I hadn't emailed her, she would have never told me.

So I totally know how you feel.

I just remembered a really strange dream that I've had twice in the past couple of weeks - I was walking somewhere and saw someone carrying a glass bottle in their hand - it looked like a medicine bottle or maybe some kind of imported asian juice bottle. When I snoopily looked closer, it was printed on the label in little letters, "bajingo juice".

So for my final post as the 30 Somethings TTC #1 threadkeeper for October I leave you with this.. (drama queen)

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Still new to the group and getting to know everyone through their comments! I'm so excited to report that my wife and I have inseminated twice (our first two!). We have a known donor - for those that didn't catch that in my first post. Poor guy is having some stage fright issues (he warned us that this might happen). Still not sure about all the acronyms used on this site (is there a guide for newbies? LOL!), so excuse me if I'm too graphic! He was only able to produce some pre-ejaculate yesterday, but we went ahead and inseminated anyway knowing that there were still lots of swimmers in there! He felt so badly about it that he wanted to try again today...and....SUCCESS!

We're going to give him a day off tomorrow to recover and have one more go at it on Tuesday (I should O on Wednesday). I realize how fortunate we are to have access to fresh and local swimmers. Feeling so full of gratitude for this amazing man who is doing all he can to give us the most precious gift!

Techie question for you all...how do you create at signature tag down at the bottom of your posts? (I'm not the most technologically advanced future mama there is!)

amyfemme I am still learning as well! Here is a link to some of the acronyms/abbreviations - my DH is starting to learn, too!

As far as making your signature - Click on 'UserCP' on the toolbar beneath the big 'mothering' banner at around the top of the page. Then you will see a 'Control Panel' menu to the left with 'Edit Signature' in it. Click on that and make one... :-)
