Could there be twins or is there only one?

We recently found out that we are pregnant after our first IVF cycle!!!! I know that the chances of twins are high with IVF, especially if more than one embryo is transferred. We are hoping for twins, but ecstatic with whatever God has determined is right for us. I did a day 3 transfer with two embryos. My first beta was done 10 dpt and was 97. My second beta was done two days following the first and was around 265. The doctor said that my numbers were great and higher than they were expecting. For the first beta, they wanted to see at least a number of 50, so I was double that. My first sonogram is next Thursday the 7th, but the anticipation is killing me. Does anyone have any feedback or experience with a similar situation/twins? Thank you!!

How far along are you? With my twins,at 5 weeks(which is when they saw them both on the u/s,any earlier might not see them) my beta was 45,000..........good luck!

I did not have twins, but I do have quickly doubling HCG - my beta at 10dpo (I'm guessing your 10dp3dt is considered 13dpo, right?) was 46 and at 14dpo it was 564...and only 1 baby. I've had similar high numbers with all of my pregnancies (even the losses) and only ever had one.

HOWever, I know that IVF can also result in lower HCG levels to begin with (because it's a transfer and so the body is 3 days or however many days the transfer is behind making HCG on its own) so - I would totally NOT rule out twins either, just wanted to give you another perspective. Congrats on the new little one (or ones!)!

First of all CONGRATS! So happy for you mama!! I just went through IVF too- we transferred two 5-day blasts, and I'm now 13 weeks preggo with twins . I tested + at 8dpt, and my first blood test at 12dpt was 500. Second blood test at 14dpt was 930. It's a very good chance mama Please update when you know for sure!!

Congratulations!!!

It stinks but I'd wait until ultrasound to get too excited about twins.

My HCG rose super super fast with DS, The nurses commented it had to be twins. My ultrasound at 5 weeks (and 6, 7, 8, 9, 12 and 20) all showed one baby.

DS was a clomid baby.

It is totally possible though! either way praying for healthy beans!

It sounds like one to me but betas can't really tell you that much anyway.

I had to chuckle a little when I read your title because I thought the same thing about 15 weeks ago. I didn't have IVF but the thought was still nagging on me. I have one baby in there but my levels went up fast too. Good Luck!

Thank you all so much for your good wishes and replies! I kind of felt silly even asking, but hearing all of your responses has helped ease some of the anxiety. Most of all, we just hope to have a great ultrasound next Thursday with news that the baby (or babies, but I'm thinking there is one little one in there) is strong and healthy. I wish all of you the best!!
