Pink kit or Hypnobabies?

Hi. I'm new to this section.

I'm 20 weeks pregnant now, with my second child. First time around I had a CS.
I was very confident at the time, very relaxed. I took hypnobirthing classes, I practice for months.. Well, at the time of the delivery I didn't use it at all. DS was posterior and labour was very, very painful. No stop contractions at all times, since my water broke. I really thought hypnobirthing was useless.
I'm very petit woman and my son was almost 9 pounds at birth, with a very good size head. He was posterior and acynclitic.

This time around, to make things worse a moved from the UK to
Monaco and in France (and Monaco) pregnancy is a whole more medicalized. So I'll have to fight hard for myself.
I was thinking of getting the pink kit, but here I read also about the hypnobabies. I'm a little bit biased again hypnobirthing at this point although I heard hypnobabies is different because it's more medical hypnoses.

Are pink kit and hypnobabies programs compatible or they exclude each other?

Any suggestion for me? I've been looking also on books from amazon.uk, I already scrolled the list of books on VBAC suggested on the pinned post. Some are out of print, at least on Amazon.

Thanks in advance for any suggestion.

P.S.: I contacted a doula here and she suggested a name of an OB friendly enough. I'll meet the doula next week and discuss the local situation.

Hypnobabies does not, or atleast it didnt when I last saw the curriculum a couple years ago, use words like pain and contraction, etc.

The Pink Kit does. It does not share the philosophy that birth is painless.

I'd get the Pink Kit, hands down. But Im a CHt and I do not share the philosophy of HypnoBabies or Hypnobirthing when it comes to "pain free" birth. I did for awhile. I a very similar program for several years. Had many clients who had "pain free" births. Had many clients who felt totally traumatized about the reality of birth and hypnosis just did not cut it for them. I also think that when things go wrong with births where mothers prepared with "positive" hypnosis I saw alot more cases of PPD and severe PPD. These deep prompts had been accepted into their subconscious that were so incongruous with their actual experience and it made things feel very fractured.

Use your hypnosis tools you developed last time if you can. You know what your reality can be and what level of endurance you need to "train" for. Equip yourself with tools and strategies to help you get there.

I'd also really focus on Optimal Foetal positioning if your last experience was due to a malpositioned baby.

i dont think birth is pain free but i did hypnobabies and its the ONLY thing that got me through a drug free labor. it was my first though and i dont have the whole VBAC experience....i focused on the whole its just tightening and pressure thing and it really helped me get through and i had her in 11 hours which is supposedly fast for a first baby, because i didnt "fight" my contractions i "welcomed" them lol it sounds corney but i kept saying every one is just bringing the baby closer to being in my arms or its ok its natural ect ect birth is NOT easy but i guess it depends more on how you view it b/c really all a contraction is IS tightening and pressure.

however i feel hypnobabies is more realistic than hypnobirthing. they are technically different programs.

I just became a Pink Kit Wholesaler and I used Hypnobabies for my very easy, very manageable, nearly pain-free VBAC. I am also in the process of becomig a certified Hypnobabies instructor.

The Pink Kit is a foundational program. It develops body awareness so that you understand where the baby has to move through in YOUR body and what might get in the way. Also, it focuses on developing awareness of the muscles involved in birth. You can relax your face and shoulders and seemingly whole body and still how a lot of tension internally in the most important muscles involved. The Pink Kit will teach you how to tune into those muscles and keep them relaxed.

The Pink Kit does say that some people have pain-free births (not because of Pink Kit skills or any particular program but because of individual differences) but they teach you skills to help move labor along and cope in case it is not pain-free.

I think you should definitely get the Pink Kit. It will definitely help in your next birth. Your first labor will likely make a lot of sense after you map your pelvis and start experimenting with internal tension. The Pink Kit uses the word pain, but also sensations, stretching and pressure.

Hypnobabies does not like to see people doing other childbirth prep programs at the same time. However, they do list Back Labor No More as a resource and that book uses the word pain. I think the foundational nature of the Pink Kit makes it compatible with Hypnobabies. You can always cross out the word pain and write the Hypno-friendly word in there.

Hypnobabies is a much better, much more effective program than Hypnobirthing. There are several women who took both and then became Hypnobabies instructors. Here are there comparisons:

http://www.pregnancybirthandbabies.c...n_hypnoclasses
.htm

The Pink Kit is great for the physical component for VBAC. Hypnobabies is great for the mental/emotional component of VBAC. The Pink Kit is designed to be started at about 28 weeks and the Hypnobabies at 32 weeks (ideally) though if you don't have that much time you can still do the programs.

If I have another baby, I will use both. If you have to Pink only 1 because of cost or time, I think in your case you should get the Pink Kit, but if you can do both, I'd get both. Just get them soon so you can go through the Pink Kit before you need to start Hypnobabies so you don't get overwhelmed.

I just wanted to add that some births are easier or more painful due to position of baby. I would recommend looking up Carol Phillips and her approach to optimal fetal positioning. Also spinning babies. Birth can be much easier if baby is well aligned for descent. I think the method matters less than position of those involved. That said, I have not used a 'method' for any of my 5 births, but I am trained as a doula and have helped women who used hypnobabies, hypnpbirthing, Bradley, Lamaze, etc.

You have been very, very helpful!
I'm still at 20 weeks, so I have time to prepare. I'll get the Pink Kit first.
Mitintraining, thanks, I'm also reading the spinning babies website. I did some search on fetal positioning the first time around, but not much. I hope I'm not going to beat my head too strong against this system.

Thanks again.

Pink Kit could be described as "Optimal Maternal Positioning" but it is a lot more than that. It also helps you consider the position and location of the baby. Spinning Babies is a great resource as well. Gail Tully lists some maneuvers on the website to use in labor if baby still won't descend or rotate during labor.

Anyone want to sell their Pink Kit or Hypnobabies?

Hello I'm planning a VBAC in March and would really like to try one or both of these programs but we can't swing the new prices right now.

Message me if you have one.

Thanks,
Karen

Karen,

You may want to check with your local ICAN group. I know ours' has the Pink Kit in their lending library.
