It's Fall! Sept 07 - Oct/Nov Thread - Page 3

I'm glad to hear it went well!

So I have the other little girl here. She's sneezed twice . She told me she'll be here the rest of the week. Mom hasn't mentioned that part yet - but I'm totally up for it! It just increases our chances! I wish my kids weren't still recovering from whatever it is they had (and I sure wish I knew what it was) but this is probably our best chance ever of getting cp (assuming she is going to get it from her sister.) Perfect timing is probably a little too much to ask for. And DD1 is having a blast! She's 6 months younger than DD1.

Helloooo?

So I babysat cp girl Wed and Thurs. Fri she and her big sister woke up with pox. They were here today for a couple hours, and they'll likely be here 4-5 hours tomorrow. I'm so glad she was here the day before the spots showed up as she was likely *highly* contagious that day.

DN has regained his birthweight already. But he always seemed unsatisfied with just colostrum so they started supplementing with a bottle in the hospital , and are continuing to supplement, according to my mother.

Any news on the chicken pox? I'm sorry to hear about how the breastfeeding is going

Not much to report here, just busy busy. I'm starting to look pregnant already, I'll be 6 weeks on Saturday. I can't even suck it in because it hurts my abdominal muscles too much. We haven't told anybody yet

Liam has been really defiant and difficult lately, I'm not really sure what's going on with that. The weather is really awful with cold, wet rain so I can't take him out to burn off energy. There just isn't enough to do around here that isn't an hour or two away.

The soonest we'd know about cp is 3 or 4 more days. Or it could be 3 more weeks. I hope they all get it at the same time, soon, and are over it in time for T-giving so we can maybe see new nephew!

I was out of my regular pants by 6 weeks with Jamison, I'm pretty sure. Definitely out of them with DD1 by that time, but she was twins, so that's my excuse.

I tried to trade my kids for groceries the other day. The cashier wouldn't take me up on it since she already has one and one on the way. Jamison was ok yesterday, but the few days before her behavior was just horrid.

Ohh trading them for groceries, I'm going to have to use that next time I will cross my fingers for you that they get it, sounds like your chances are really good!

I do feel like we're just in some yucky developmental stage. He can be such a sweet, lovable, cuddly kid but then he just gets in these awful moods. He gets really aggressive, it seems like he has so much energy and needs to expend it somehow. We need to finish cleaning the rest of the garage out and at least he'll be able to ride his bike in there.

Laine isn't taking a nap today apparently. She's going through the "don't put me down" stage, particularly with Andrew. She understands so much though and is learning lots of words, which is great because it helps make life easier. She and Liam have started fighting with each other but at this point their squabbles are easy to resolve, I'm sure it's just a taste of what's to come.

katie so glad about the midwife. And I hear you about terrible behavior. C and I are still having a hard time. It can be demoralizing.

Then again, when she put on her halloween costume the first time, she said "Mommy, it's like a dream!!"

Jeanine, am I missing something... you have twins? And GL with the pox!!

Trying to figure out if actually returning to work is a good idea or not.
Taking the husband away for the weekend, he's turing 40. This also means the children are going to be away over night from me for the first time ever. I am freaking out. Especially about I. He's totally attached at night, a terrible sleeper, and a total momma's boy.

I was pg with twins for about ten weeks. (I was on fertility drugs, so had a fair number of early ultrasounds, which is why we know there were twins and when the other stopped, even though by 20 weeks there was no sign of the other. Oh yeah, and I was freaking exhausted.)

One day I'll learn to multi-quote.

ANother "what happened to my sweet child?" post here. My little angel has traded in his wings and halo for horns and a pointy tail. . He DEMANDS things RIGHT NOW and if he doesn't get them RIGHT NOW he throws things, hits, yells and kicks.

We have been in our rental house a little over a month and he has made little holes in the wall, torn the wallpaper and drawn on the walls with black ballpoint pen. And he KNOWS what he is doing, because he hides when his actions have been discovered. SIGH.

Katie - I can't believe you are 6 weeks already!

Alicia - have a fun weekend with your DH!

Jeanine - hope the CP comes quickly and all at the same time.

Is that meant for me? If so, thank you, but I was over it after like 3 days, because a) I was still pregnant, and b) it was early and c) 2 at once?!?!

Count me in on the where did my sweet child go....

Defiant is putting it lightly. I was figuring it was on account of her starting school and being around other kiddos, but I too think it must just be a developmental stage they are going through.

Lucy's vocabulary has exploded in the last couple of months and it is hard to fathom that I am actually trying to rationalize why she must do something and she is giving pretty valid arguements as to why she thinks she shouldn't have to.... I just can't wait for the preteen years!!!

Katie I can't believe you are already 6 weeks along. And Heather should be any day now.....Babies...babies...babies.

we just got home from 48 hours away from the littles... it was DHs 40th birthday so I surprised him by picking him up from work early on Friday and driving us into the country My ILs (thank Gd!) came up to take care of DD and DS. I almost forgot my pump, holy breastmilk. I swear I came home with 2 gallons of breastmilk!

The place we stayed was amazing, the towns we visited were cute and cozy, being away from the kids was easier and harder than I thought. I still haven't been reunited with them, they're on their way home now, and not too soon! My breasts are killing me.

Alicia - I'm glad you had a great weekend.

We were busy and out and about today and Y didn't ask to nurse at all until we got home. He asked while I was making dinner but I was able to hold him off, and then he nursed to sleep. We'll see how it goes tomorrow but I would love to get him down to twice a day.

SwwetTexas - too funny about Lucy arguing with you about why she shouldn't have to do something!

Yay for a nice time away from the kids! I've never spent a night away from all the kids. I've been away from ds when both his sisters were born, and when he went backpacking with dh and g-pa. I've been away from DD1 when J was born. I've never spent a night away from J. And I've never spent a night childless in over 9 years. The kids were at the hospital when their siblings were born, so even when they went home at night to sleep I still had a new kiddo in the hospital with me. J did allow me to leave her with the neighbor (the cp girls) while I went to a dentist appt on Friday. I wasn't sure she'd go for it, so that was a big deal!

Speaking of cp - no sign yet, although it's only like the 10th day, and incubation is 10-21 days.

J slept in her own bed/room ALL NIGHT two nights ago

Yeah for a great weekend! I haven't spent a full night away either, just a few hours to go out at night. I never fully enjoyed it because my MIL watched them and she acted totally annoyed about it. I wonder what it's like to have family local to you who actually don't mind watching your kids every once in a while

Tonight Liam asked to read books before bed by himself but couldn't see without a light, so I put a lamp in his room. He turned it out and went to bed after he was done with his books. I am amazed at how much of a big kid he's becoming.

Laine is transitioning to laying in bed with me to fall asleep rather than rocking and she's doing pretty well. I usually lay at the end of her bed after nursing her a bit and she'll toss around and kick me and go to sleep, so doing much better than I anticipated.

So far this pregnancy is completely different in a lot of ways from my others. Definitely more round ligament pain and food cravings, I don't remember having specific food cravings like this with the others.

Or, more importantly, local family who don't mind that you can trust. Especially overnight.

You never had specific food cravings before?
I had a dumb moment and hit the wrong button, please ignore what happened to your post Jeanine.

I've craved specific food groups or categories of items but not specific foods. With Liam, I really liked salads with vinegar based dressing. With Laine I just ate anything, in the very beginning when I was so sick all I could eat was miso soup.

Looking back at my pregnancy diets I realize I lacked a lot of fat in my diet so I'm trying to get more healthy fats since I can't eat dairy this time around, at least for a little while. Right now I'm craving yogurt like mad and I think it's because I need more calcium and fat. I would really like to grow a bigger baby this time around since they've both been on the small side.

I can't believe you edited my post!

With one of the girls I craved Brown Cow whole milk Cherry Vanilla yogurt - which had to be special-ordered because the store doesn't carry that flavor. With J I craved limeade with store-bought crushed ice because our ice (and water) was gross, for some reason only identifiable to a pregnant woman I get pretty specific food cravings.

How big were they?
I'm sorry! I thought I hit quote but I hit edit on accident

Yogurt with fruit just sounds soooo good to me. I can get coconut milk yogurt but it's just not the same. Liam was 7lbs. and Laine weighed in at 7lbs. 4oz. but honestly she was so tiny that I think the scale was off. The assistant bought a brand new scale before coming over and hadn't used it before. Even my midwife commented and said she couldn't have been that big.
