xposted in nutrition..Anyone have any thoughts on this? Dh and dd won't take the fermented (cinnamon or chocolate) and I really would like for them to take something with a little more to it then plain fish oil. This stuff looks really good and high quality. Anyone???

Yes, I think this is a good alternative to FCLO. I have looked into it, and talked to the company. It has less A (but not much less), but more D, and it has iodine because they make the oil from the fish heads, not the fish bodies. They make the oil very soon after harvest and are careful with temperature. They are very conscious of all the issues involved. It has a mild taste. It also has that special anti-oxidant that krill oil has, astanxthin or something? Seems like a very good oil to me. We have gone through almost one bottle and will reorder. It is a good pricepoint, too. My baby, who stopped taking the FCLO off the spoon, will do the Vital Choice salmon oil.

That is so great to know....thank you so much for taking the time to let me know! I was worried it had the vitamins added back in sythetically but knowing this I will def be ordering! good to know about the taste too see dd and I will be taking it off a spoon, dh can't handle that so pills only for him!

3/4 tsp of Vital Choice salmon oil contains about 2000 iu of A and 360 iu of D.

1/2 tsp Blue Ice regular high vitamin cod liver oil contains about 5750 iu of A and 575 iu of D.

1 ml of fermented Blue Ice (I think 1 tsp equals 4.5ml) equals 3500 iu of A and 600 iu of D.

Salmon oil is much lower in these vitamins.

When I was first starting out, I just used the plain clo in a shot of orange juice. I also felt the extra acid helped digest it.

Yes, but we're talking about a baby here, not self. And compared to other fish oils on the market, none of which have any natural A & D in them, all synthetic, the Vital Choice Salmon Oil is tons and tons better, more similar to Green Pastures CLO than to the other fish oils out there. Of course it's not the same thing, but it's more like it than anything else, and if your baby/child/husband simply won't do the FCLO, then it's a really great alternative, actually. Much better than any of the other alternatives out there.

They are different products, certainly. But my baby, who used to love FCLO right off the spoon, won't do that anymore. And won't do it hidden in stuff. (Keep in mind, this is a child who eats raw liver! He's pretty adventurous food-wise.) I'm glad to use the Vital Choice oil for my baby, and feel it is a very good choice.

Meant to add, too, that my baby will easily do much more than a teaspoon of Vital Choice, so can get more of the A & D than the "serving size". Whereas I'm lucky if he doesn't throw up the FCLO.
