Should you drink pickle juice?

So... it occurred to me after making my first beet kvass that maybe I should be drinking my pickle juice too.

I never new beet kvass was simply beets in brine left out to ferment a couple of days... and that you just drink the juice not eat the beets....

hmmm, I do the same exact thing to my cucumbers. Put them in brine and set them out to ferment...

What do you all do with the left over pickle juice?

As noted in my post yesterday, my son drinks the fermented beet juice with a splash of whey.

We do not drink the saltier juices, like Bubbie's pickle juice! Way too salty!!!

I don't remember the amount of salt in beet kvass vs pickles, it _seems_ like the pickles are saltier. I did let the kids drink some once, not considering just how much salt is in it (it's not something I limit usually) and they ended up drinking a TON of water for the remainder of the day. So I think it was too much salt for them--though they liked the flavor enough to be willing to do it again.

I haven't tried pickle brine, but I LOVE the extra kraut brine. When I make some LF pickles, I'll definitely drink the brine.

I have never tried drinking it, but I definitely use it - a little splashed into tuna or chicken salad, and it's a must in tartar sauce! I guess I consider it somewhat of a seasoning.

Hey cool, a seasoning. I also read in another thread to add hard boiled eggs to leftover pickle juice.

I actually made my beet kvass way too salty first time around... I think my pickles are mild in comparison.

Any more ideas?
