Is it time to test?

I never expected to be posting in this forum! DH and I have built our family by adoption and I've never been pregnant or wanted to be.

Seven years ago DH had a vasectomy. He was tested and got a zero count a few months later (I don't remember if he was tested once or twice). No issues for either of us since then.

Now I'm close to three weeks late, and I've felt hideously premenstrual for a month. I usually don't get cramps at all, but I've had a lot of cramping in the last few weeks; I'm exhausted, completely, totally exhausted; and my breasts feel just like they did when I was nursing (I induced lactation for my babies when we adopted them).

Is pregnancy possible? I've done a ton of web searching on vasectomy failure rates and am not coming up with much. I see a 1 in 1000 statistic, but I also see that no one actually knows where that 1 in 1000 statistic comes from.

And obviously, or I wouldn't be posting this, there's been no one but DH in the picture since long before we were married.

Maybe. I would test to rule it out for sure. Cramping and lack of period could be something else too, so I would test first and then go from there.
I hope you get the answer you want, mama.

Thank you. I'm not really sure what answer I want regarding pregnancy. I wouldn't mind a third child, though it's not the right time for all sorts of reasons. I guess it's good that I don't have strong feeling either way.

ahh... I think the stat comes from they can't say it's impossible becasue it can happen just super not likley.

I'd test to rule it out. let us know....

Stranger things have happened. My husband worked with someone who got his wife pregnant after a vasectomy--AND she was in her mid-40s. They had a healthy baby. Granted there may have been more to the story than that--maybe he got a vasectomy reversal and they just didn't mention it to anyone? But I remember the word on the street was the pregnancy was a TOTAL shock.

please update if you test!

I know a couple of vasectomy babies. MORE tubal ligation babies... including my BIL.

But yes, its totally possible. Of course, there are many more explainations for your symptoms
random anovulatory cycle, all women are subject to them
stress or sickness causing anovulation
depending on age... possibly even menopause
and some functioning ovarian cysts, while harmless, can cause the same

spend a few dollars, take a test, ease your mind

seems like a test is a pretty cheep easy way to know at least one thing it is or isnt, go test with a good pink dye test

Just took the test; it was negative. I'm neither disappointed nor relieved, just wondering what's going on with my body. Still no AF and I'm still feeling the same.

Thanks for your support!

I'm guessing an annovulatory cycle. I've had a few over the years and they can be very deceptive. I was CONVINCED I was pregnant, even after maybe a dozen home tests AND a blood test from my ob/gyn. But I wasn't ... just like 2 months late.
