Relocating to Austin Area

Hey Mamas!

We are going to be moving to the Austin area in the next few months and I am looking for recommendations for a homebirth midwife. I am about 10ish weeks pregnant with #5 and the thought of moving to a different state in the middle of my pregnancy terrifies me a bit.
But, I know you all will have lots of recommendations for me

Thanks!!!!

Kim

Welcome. There are quite a few midwives in Austin and if you search this forum you should find a bunch of threads with info on various midwives. My midwife is April Bullock and I'm very happy with her. She is one of the "younger" midwives and doesn't have that overly maternal air about her, which I appreciate. Other people prefer the older "mama" type midwives like G.B.

Hello! I see you are in Utah now..I lived there for 4 years just before we moved here last year. I am also 10 weeks pregnant with #3 and the midwife I have chosen in Laurie Fremgen. I have only met with her twice but I have a great feeling about her. If you google her, she has a website. Good luck and hope you come to love Austin as I have! - Sarah

I'll second Laurie Fremgen. She attended my May birth and I just recently reviewed her on another thread. I think it's on the second page now.

Congrats and good luck!

Thank you so much for your recommendations!!! I know once we know where we're living, I can go to LLL and get more recommendations, but I am overwhelmed with all the options in Austin!! I have 3 midwives to choose from here, and more than 25 there!!! ACK!

What part of Utah are you in? I used Cathy Larson. Sorry to hijack the post to write a question. - Sarah

I'm in Logan, way northern. I don't know Cathy. I've used Suzanne Smith, Vivian Giles and Heather Johnston for my other births.
