Is it worth it? Do you love it? This is my last baby, so I'm not sure if it is worth the money. Or if it is something I could improvise.
Thanks!

We used a low table from Target and a stool. Put it near our table in the dining room and DD used it .... hmm .... for a few months around 18mo old? She ate more because she could move around, and she eventually wanted to sit up with the grown-ups so lost interest in it gradually. We moved it into another area and she still eats at it occassionally, but mostly uses it for puzzles and art.
Here's a picture of the table, but not in the dining room.

Sorry, here is a real computer link.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kbfby...e=mfu_in_order
Here is what I used:
Table - measured and cut the legs, I think the legs were 12 inches finished (but hey, $8 beats $100 any day...hmm..looks like the price has gone up to $10, if you don't live near an IKEA, Target has a "knockoff" for $14ish)
Chair (the cheapest right size chair I could find)
I like ours and so does my daughter. We didn't use one for my son, but he had a small table that he ate at when he was older (over a year, or maybe 18 months or so). What I found with him was that I enjoyed him eating breakfast at it, but dinner at the "big" table. At that time, we didn't typically eat breakfast together, so it made sense.
Now, we really eat all of our meals together so I have mixed feelings about my daughter being at her own table. We will buy a youth chair for her when she gets a bit older (my son uses his still).
Right now my daughter is almost 9 months and I usually give her something to play with at her table while we eat, or my husband or I will hold her. Usually she eats food or "eats" food, haha, at a separate time from everyone else so I can sit with her and retrieve her bowl and spoon. She's having a really high interest in picking up small things though, so I got her some puffed rice. That might be a fun "meal" for while we eat.
At her table, I put something heavy on the other side of the table because I found that she pushes the table out if I don't.
Sorry for the novel, I hope I answered some of your questions.

Huh. I didn't even know there was a name for this...(other than "the children's table"). I actually just blogged about our experience with one...we just started to use a smaller table after my 21 month old fell head first out of her booster. Prior to that, she was in a booster at the regular table, just as my other two had been at that age. We had never used a high chair. Apparently my youngest is a bit more impetuous and decided to dive off the chair. 3 hours later, we put a toddler table in the room...

Yeah, she's fine.
She was fine about 10 minutes after she fell (she's really quite daring and tends to fall off anything...chairs, the couch, etc. Perhaps if she stayed on the floor instead of jumping and climbing on everything...... Clearly I should have nicknamed *her* 'monkey'. : ) |

We loved the weaning table and chair, I guess my dd starting using it just around 7 or 8 months and continued until probably 2.5 or so.
At the very beginning, I would sit next to her for the most part to help her control the dishes.
It really is a different experience to sit with your own two feet on the floor rather than up high at an adult sized table.
Good luck!
