After fighting for months to get my license, I finally got it in the mail this week. It was dated June 23, 2010. I was told I was licensed by my agency in April! Well, today, after fighting for it for months, I got my first check for mileage. I've been transporting my GS for 23 months to visits, except for the weeks when the visit was supervised and transported by supervisor (about 4 times in all).
I had been asking for months and months why I wasn't getting mileage. I called the state advocacy office and they chewed out my agency. The agency told them they refuse to pay mileage for past fiscal years and the advocacy office said I'd have to take them to small claims court for past years but INSISTED that they pay mileage to me beginning this fiscal year.
I didn't supervise any June visits because the caseworker did them, but I've done all the rest. When I got home today, I finally got my check for July's mileage.....on October 1.
Today was my last day supervising visits. My new caseworker finally succeeded in getting a case aide to supervise, but I'll still be transporting. As usual, no one told my DD. She asked before we left the visit room if she was supposed to call me next week or the caseworker, so I had to be the one to tell her that a case aide will be doing all the visits from now on.
She was already very sad today and I hated having to give her the news myself. I have been asking for the caseworker or an aide to supervise for so long! In the beginning of our case we had a case aide but they said she was getting too busy and put the visits off on me. I didn't know then that I could refuse.
I put up with months and months of my DD blaming me for "taking her son", calling me names and degrading me. When I finally got the advocate's office involved and they forced my agency to pay for supervision and mileage at visits, the agency suddenly found room in the case aide's schedule for supervision. I'd much rather forego the supervision fee and let them pay their own employee!
