Is this okay?

My diet is normally quite good, but lately it has not been great. I have rectified it and am back to very good. We are planning to start TTC for the first time ever in 2 weeks. I know this is probably silly, but I know how important diet is and I wanted to make sure it's not a big deal as long as I start eating good now and continue through trying, pregnancy, and nursing, etc. Plus it's unlikely I'll get pregnant the first cycle. What do you think?

Thanks.

The only thing I'd worry about is being low with folic acid if you haven't been supplementing with it. The good news is that it only takes a few weeks to fix poor stores.

Most doctors suggest you start taking a prenatal vitamin and 400mmg (micrograms) of folic acid when you start TTC. The folic acid has to be taken serparately because most prenatal vitamins don't have it. GL

I think diet is important, but everyone indulges now and again. Women who are overweight sometimes have problems with PCOS (polycystic ovaries) and diabetes can be a concern, but a junk food binge on occasion when you normally eat healthy isn't of concern. I second the folic acid. Ideally you want to boost the intake prior to TTC so that when you conceive your folic acid levels are already high. So if you don't want to choke down prenatal vitamins, at least start on the folic acid - they are nice and tiny and reduces the risk of so many things!

If you dont like to swallow pills, take a couple chewable childrens vitamins each day. Kids vitamins do contain some folic acid. Also most foods like bread and pasta are fortified with folic acid.
