Why is DD sick every week? Cold after cold after cold

So my formally superstar healthy daughter (14 mo) who caught two colds and that was it in the first year of life, just hasn't been well since we took a plane in August. I get her over one thing and then a few days to a week later it is something else. First it was thrush, then a cold, then a weird virus fever/rash thing, then a cold then a yeast diaper rash and now another cold! Poor Baby!

It seems to me that her immune system is not running on all cylinders and I want to help her get that back on track so she isn't such a germ magnent. Problem is that I have no idea what to do for a kid her age. Any thoughts on what I can do for her? And if you have anything great to share remedy wise for colds I am all ears. Thanks for the help!

Nurse nurse nurse would be my number 1. Then increase vitamin C for both of you.

Hope she feels better soon!

Lots of nursing, increase Vitamin C. I would also try to increase her Vitamin D. If it's still warm where you live, try to get her outside in the sun (without sunscreen and with at least arms/legs/face exposed several times a week.

Maybe try washing her hands? Little ones put their hands everywhere & then into their ears & noses which are nice warm portals for viruses & bacteria.

And yes, if she's still nursing, give her lots of it!

I currently give DD 250 mg vitamin C, 1000 IU vitamin D, 1 chewable probiotic, and 1000 mg orange flavoured fish oil each day.

Given that you mentioned a yeasty diaper rash, I'd say something may be out of whack with her digestion. A lot of adults have digestive issues when they travel so it doesn't seem a stretch to think it may affect kids too.

I'd get an infant probiotic and give at least the dosage on the bottle, maybe higher--higher wouldn't be a problem. And consider whether anything has changed dietarily that may be more stressful--some people trend up in cow's milk sometime in the 2nd year and that can be an issue. Intolerances can range from having basically no tolerance at all to only seeing obvious issues when the amount gets pretty high.

For getting through illnesses easier, my go-tos are vitamin C to bowel tolerance and cell salts. I just started using cell salts recently (vitC was a godsend for my son when he was little), but check out the cell salt thread here in H&H. I don't think I can buy them locally, but some people are able to find them--I order online. I like bioplasma for every day, but ferr phos for the start of illnesses has really helped this summer, I am impressed.

Thanks for all of the good information. I started on her on the Source Naturals Wellness formula (for kids) today and I will try to get some probiotics down her tonight. I also made some chicken noodle soup tonight and we have been drinking rosehip, ginger and honey tea today. I will look at vit c, d and fish oil tomorrow at the store, I take them myself so it makes sense for her to take them too I guess. I think it probably is a good idea to look for food sensitivites too, I used have a big problem with dairy (pregnancy seems to have helped that one), corn and pork. I also have problems with IBS and asthma and she has ezcema so her being sensitive wouldn't surprise me, I just had hoped she wouldn't get my genes in that area. Does anyone know if elderberry is safe to take on a short term basis for colds? It always really helps me.
