How to deal with tomato worms and snails?

Of course everyone says snail bait but, beyond killing the snails (which I do feel bad about), isn't that a pesticide that could contaminate the the veggies? And how to you get rid of the tomato worms and grasshoppers? They're eating the tomatoes the moment they're ripe for the pickin'. Help! I'm looking for *all* responses; please do not worry about offending me if you happily kill snails. lol

I'll take the silence as "there is no way to deal with tomato worms and snails."

Go outside early in the morning, with a bucket of soapy water. Pick the critters off and put them in the soapy water.

End of story.

If you see any worms with white eggs on them, move them away from your tomatoes, but don't kill them. The eggs are a parasitic wasp that will help with the worm problem.

Soapy water works best, just don't do what I did and forget the jar out there for a week. Talk about stink.

I have tons of tomato worms this year and none of them have the eggs on their back

I pick them off and throw them into the weeds. I should start doing the soapy water.

Thank you for the responses! I will try to not feel guilty. They are ruining my tomatoes after all!
