Make-your-own disposable wipes?

My 2-year-old DS is starting in a Montessori toddler program. He's still in diapers and they've requested that we send disposable wipes. He's always been in cloth diapers and I've never bought disposable wipes before... so I read some of the packages of cheap ones and was predictably appalled; the "natural" ones are so expensive so I'm thinking of making homemade disposable wipes, either out of old rags or maybe I'll buy unbleached paper towels and make them out of those? Has anyone else done this? Any advice? Something about buying those disposable wipes seems really ridiculous to me and I don't want to do it... Thanks!

There are lots of instructions/recipies online for making your own paper wipes. Here's one:

It's also really easy to make your own cloth wipes, if they're up for tossing them in a wetbag for you to take home and wash.

I've heard of folks making them by cutting a roll of paper towels in half and then soaking it in a home-made solution. I think the trick is to buy sturdy paper towels though so they don't disinegrate when wet.

Thanks- I think I'll do the paper towel thing for now, and hopefully talk them into dropping cloth wipes into a wetbag rather than disposables into the trash. Really doesn't seem like it should be an issue, since they're okay with the cloth diapers.
