I can't leave the room or she'll crawl off the bed

I put her to bed around 7, and want to go back to the living room and do stuff. But sometimes she wakes up and doesn't make noise, but starts crawling around. One time I went in and she was getting near the end of the bed! There's a crib next to the bed, so she can't roll off, but she can crawl off!! And she's quick! It also happens in the middle of the night, sometimes I don't wake up quick enough and she's off crawling around.

What do you all do!!?

That's why I had to put the 4th wall back on the side-carred crib. He sleeps enclosed in the crib until he wakes up when I go to bed. Then he sleeps with me for the rest of the night, although I have to transfer him back into the crib if I wake up to pee.

When I lay DS down for the night, I build a wall of pillows alongside him & across the bottom of the bed. I also set a baby monitor in there so I hear him if he's moving around & go in to get him back to sleep before he's awake enough to start crawling anywhere. I've always made sure the pillows are secure & aren't going to fall on him & that he won't be suffocated or anything.

We put out mattress on the floor and used a video monitor.

We also put our mattress on the floor.

I can't leave for long anyway, though, cause she wakes up if I'm not there.

Another one for mattress on the floor.
We are about to put the bed back together again because now at 14.5 months she knows how to get off the bed safely.

You could also put bed rails up on the side and bottom of the bed. That was an idea we were going to do, but it was easier to just put the mattress on the floor.

right now we have a bedrail up, but that will not suffice for long....while ds has always been a noisy kid, dd is going to be a sneaky one, I can tell. We will either bedrail the entire bed or put the mattress on the floor. With ds I put the mattress on the floor at around 8 or 9 months. However that was also the time that I introduced the toddler bed. He started going to bed on his own in a toddler bed around that age, and then moving into my bed around 11 PM. We plan to do the same with dd so that might mean getting to skip the whole "barricaded bed" thing.

I put the matress on the floor when this became an issue. The bedroom is babyproofed, and he can (and sometimes does) crawl out to find me without making a peep.

i did the mattress on the floor.

my friend did teach baby how to get off bed. however baby had 2 older sisters to keep her trained.

i tell you by 8 months her dd was well trained in getting off the bed by herself. she learnt how to hang her feet and then try to feel with her feet and scream if she doesnt find anything (while younger and shorter). which meant initially there was a screaming baby in the house till she figured out how to hang and then slide down carefully and touch ground.

we didnt have a the mattress on the floor (thanks to my stubborn dh who wont listen to reason ) so this is what we did, since ds1 would do a speeding crawl to the edge of the bed:

surround him with pillows and put noisy toys on top of the pillows, like a bunch of legos, a couple toy pots and pans ... something that would "clank" together. use a baby monitor and place on one of the pillows. ANY movement would cause either the monitor to fall and make noise, alerting us, or a toy would fall and make noise and we could hear it in the monitor.

i did this only for a little bit until i felt more comfortable leaving him on the bed. hth

We have been trying to teach our 9 month old to do this for some time, but he still cannot turn around on his own. He's fine at lowering himself to his feet if we turn him around but without us, he will go head first or back up to a seated position (which has caused him to fall off the bed by sitting right on the edge).
