I totally understand! I sort of waited for that, too. I wanted a pure bred dog, and also didn't want a whoopsie litter of puppies. I wanted a responsible breeder and not a puppymill. Unfortunately, this tends to mean big $$. Oh, and I didn't want another shelter dog. Yes, I know shelters are wonderful, place some fabulous dogs. In fact, our current dog is from a shelter. But, he had so much baggage and anxiety from his previous life, that he sort of made our lives really hard and intense for a few years with him as we rehabilitated him. He is finally resembling something of a normal dog now, but it was a long road. I just don't have the energy for that again right now! I didn't want to pay big bucks. I wanted to pay a few hundred dollars and be done. It's remarkably difficult to find a dog that fits this bill! As it turns out, it's a friend of a friend that I know online. She's a farmer, her friend is a farmer, and they wanted to breed their two unpapered, but pure labs. Hence, a very good price, an intentionally, and happily bred dogs, in a warm, loving, family environment. They are a bit of a hike (5 hour drive), but it's the best I'm going to get, I think!
Plady - I wish I could run that trail race with you! For the t-shirt alone!
RM - Amazing time!
Mel - Good luck on the C25k!!! You are going to rock the 10k when the time comes!!!
Kerc - I don't drink it too much, but I just can't give up my diet coke (or my coffee). What about some yummy decaf chai with creamer and agave to sweeten it? Maybe just the prep time would make it seem like a treat?
FM - I did, eventually, drag my butt to the gym. I did cardio on 4 different machines. 15 minute increments of rowing, elliptical, stair stepper, and stair master (different from the stepper). It was really tough, especially at the end. Then, I did about 20 minutes of ab work. So, I guess not too relaxed, but at least it was split up enough to keep my attention! My left hamstring is disproportionately sore from my right. It was my right leg that was broken, so I am thinking that my left leg is used to compensating for the weakness of the right. I plan to run tomorrow. Starting week 8 of the C25k!
