October should be spent chasing the Naughty Dingos - Page 20

Way to go, Geo! I'm with KERC!

Kerc- I love getting dirty. I think it's a big part of why I love gardening so much. Enjoy your time alone!

I've been offline for a few days. I picked up the girls from MIL's yesterday, and things are good. Of course, I didn't get as much done as I had hoped but I'm ok with it now.

I'm going to do some strength training as soon as my kids get out of the living room, and then walk for a bit.

RR: I did 4.2m with no real IT band pain. I'm going to keep doing strengthening, stretching, foam rolling, and gradually work my mileage back up. But, fingers crossed, I think I'm on the right track. Plus, a beautiful fall day to run...
Ok, ok, ok!!!!!! Guess what I did?!! I RAN for 30 minutes straight!!!! This is the first time in months and months and months. There was no pain, and it was really good. I did it on the treadmill at the gym, and started at a much slower pace than I've been running at. I built up the speed throughout the run, till it was a bit faster than I have been running at. It was the best run I've had in ages and ages!

bec~

And for me, I just passed my practical exam for my fundamentals of nursing class! Not that there aren't high-stress times to come, but I think this was the last true pass/fail practical exam where if you fail, you fail the class (from here on, I think it's just a grade deduction). Woohoo!!! Of course, I have a critique due for my nursing research class, and a pharm test tomorrow, but in the meantime, woohoo!!!

Oh, and I got a sizable birthday check from my mom in the mail yesterday, so I am now the proud owner of a shiny new NCLEX review book. The things that make me happy these days...

Well, I never got to the Ortho yesterday... my grandmother was admitted to the hospital for a heart atack. She's 91... she's not getting better, they are basically just keeping her comfortable. She looks better today then when she first got to the ER, but looks worse then she did last night. I'm not taking this well.... at all.
And back to the Ortho, they can't get me reschedule back in for a time late enough to see the Ortho for my MRI results. I told the receptionist that the Dr can call me if i have a tear and hung up. This office has been nothing but rude to me from the get go, I've had enough... I'm going back to my reg Dr (with my MRI images) and he and i can get a game plan.

Kris.

Gaye, I totally get it. And congrats!

Bec, :highfive

The other big accomplishment of the day is getting 2 out of the 3 kids set for costumes! After some shuffling of ideas around, Abby is going to be a Bee, Katie is going to be a scarecrow, and Emily is still planning on being a water bottle (I've started assembling materials). The good news is that, while I have had to run all over town, it was super cheap. ~$15 for Katie, ~$10 for Abby, and I think Emily is going to be under $10 when all is said and done. And, there will be some clothes that will be re-usable for the kids after!

That's it. I'm going refined-sugar free. I've had about 5 lbs creep on over the last few months, and the obvious culprit is ice cream, brownies, cupcakes.

Who's with me?
Kris, so sorry to hear about your grandmother. Your family is in my thoughts.

Megan-I'm so there...as soon as I finish my hidden box of Cocoa Pebbles. : I've got to stop the sugar.

I'm planning on doing 14 tomorrow, but I'm not sure if my toe is up for it. It's going to get lots of TLC in prep for this run.

I'm so not into sugary cereals (except for lucky charms that is, which I haven't had in over 3 years). BUT I'm totally a sugar eater -- today I decided I HAD to have skittles from the vending machine. I put in my $$, and out popped not one, but two bags. I ate them both. And felt like crap.

I'm in for the no sugar thing. Just not low carb (and memiles that's my question re: beer -- carbs have sugars in them and I can't do a low carb diet. just cannot). I'm doing decently at a month of no diet soda. I had some today for the first time in a week (I skipped bfast today and can totally tell).

I am a firm believer that carbs aren't the enemy. For me, it's cake. And ice cream. And candy. My goal is to get rid of the sweets. I just need to get rid of the trigger foods, the ones I eat when I'm not hungry, kwim?

Have your beer, and one for me too.

Thanks for the well wishes for my grandmother... it's just really hitting me that she might/could finally, go. And with all my other grandparents, as well as both my parents already deceased... I'm ready (i mean, she is 91), but at the same time, i'm not ready to lose that last bit of my dad either (his loss really hit me the worse, even now 7 years later).

His loss is one of the reasons i wanted to start running again (see, i did have a point in all my rambling, right?). He was 52, and never really took care of himself... I don't want my kids burying me when I'm 52 (more like 102!)

re sweets: I finally made a list of goals for myself, and one of them was no sweets, unless i was willing to put in the effort and make it from scratch. I figure that would greatly reduce how much and how often I have them (i LOVE baking, i just never have time!), but at the same time not make them a totally no-no and end up gorging myself 1 day out of desperation/frustration/PMS... cocoa krispies and Newman's Ginger-O's are my weakness

no walking/running today (spent my free time at the hospital)... hoping I can tomorrow, as long as DH doesn't work another 14 hour day . I dont mind the overtime, but dd#1 isnt old enough to watch dd#2 and ds long enough for me to get some time in

I just ran 14 miles. That's my longest run EVER!!! I've got a couple of sore toes and a monster chafe where my bra rubbed. In fact, it got so bad that I ran the last few miles with a washcloth stuck in the band of my bra to prevent it from getting worse. But I just had a biscuit and chocolate milk and that made me feel better. Yum!

Yay, Gaye, to a huge milestone!

Who's with me?
Me. Absolutely.

T-shirts: A huge to everybody who has ordered the t-shirt!! Such a cool design this year, I can't wait to get mine. Any more takers out there? I know there must be... so come out of hiding and let's get this order off to the printers!

Still doing my C25k, and yesterday was not so great. I had a little bit of knee pain and a tiny bit of swelling yesterday.

I am going out of town on Wednesday!!! I will fly to Denver to attend a conference - so I'm both excited and terrified. The thought of leaving my DH in charge of everything worries me. OTOH, the thought of being in a cool city and seeing all these professional people really motivates me, and having some alone time... I'm both and at the same time. Oh, and packing semi-professional clothes? Shoes??

Kris That sounds really difficult.

Mel ~ did you get my order PM? I need your snail mail address so I can send you a check .

RR () ~ I ran the Jill Behrman 5K this morning, my first race since last fall (the same race, actually). Weather was cool, cloudy and perfect. Get this ~ I ran a 24:09, and won the W40-44 AG !!!! This Dingo is coming BACK!!!!!!!! First mile is super hilly and crowded and I passed 1 mile at 8:25, mile 2 was exactly 16:00 so good pacing throughout. My leg feels fine and the race was great fun! Now to spend my $15 GC at the running store .

Whew. I am feeling really fried today. I started out the morning by totally losing it with Alison. She is three right? So she just doesn't listen. And first thing this morning she decided to shriek and wail instead of being quiet like I'd just asked and it made me so mad. I swatted her butt and tossed her on the bed and then slammed the door as I left. And then instead of just crying she started wailing "I love you Mommy I love you!"
So I made up with her of course but the adrenaline rush of the pre-coffee meltdown has really spun my day off on a bad tangent. I spent all. day. yesterday cleaning the house and right now you'd hardly be able to tell. .

I guess this mama needs a run.

Sorry for the all-about-me-show but now I smell a poopy dipe and I've got a ton of work to do in about a half hour.
