My own "Seven Pounds"

I have two sons and both are circumcised. With ds1, I truly did not know it didn't need to be done, I thought I was doing the right thing. I was 17 yrs old and had only ever seen one adult penis in my life and it was cut and therefore my "normal".

I struggled with the decision with ds2, but in the end, I went ahead and did it. I didn't have internet and had never heard of MDC. If I had been a member here, he would be intact.

So a few years ago I apologized to my boys, explained that they need to have the circ talk with any potential future wives down the road, and put myself on a mission.

Two years ago I spoke with a friend who was expecting a boy. She already was a crunchy person and knew she'd be natural parenting, but wasn't sure about circ bc her husband was cut. All I had to do was tell her about the day my ds2 was cut, 8 days pp, and also tell her about our trip to the ER at 13 days pp. When I stopped crying she told me her son would be left whole.

And yesterday I found out my baby sister decided against circ after reading the Mothering reprints that I gave her 2 weeks ago! (My 1st nephew is due in 3-5 wks) I read her text message and immediately began sobbing. Only you all here can understand how I feel. I hurt two, and now I've saved two. I feel wonderful today.

That's an amazing story! I'm glad that you have been able to use your experience to help other mamas and other baby boys. And I love the fact that you were so honest with your boys regarding circ' and the decisions you made. I am sure that will make it easier for them to be open about circ later on in life too.

Thanks!

Ds2 already told his step-mother he would stop her if she tried to cut his baby brother, but she went ahead and did it to not just one, but two of his little brothers. I was so proud of him for speaking up, though.

My heart goes out to All those mama’s and papa’s who learned too late the adverse consequences of consenting to have their little boys circumcised. I commend them for standing up and spreading the word to end the practice and protect other boys. The regret in their voices is so sincere and painfully heartfelt. Their voices need to be heard to help end the still popular practice of amputating parts of male children’s penises in the 21st century.

This is so true, and a wonderful vehicle for stories to be recorded was Dan Bollinger's website "BLOUCH". I have not been able to access it for some time, but had heard that it was to be linked to INTACT AMERICA's website. I have not seen it there either.

Does anyone know where BLOUCH went?

What a wonderful story!
I am sorry for your regret and so happy that you are helping to educate others and that they are willing to learn!
Your honesty is really wonderful. Your boys are so blessed to have such a loving and honest mother willing to talk straight with them. So many children never get genuine honesty about all matters sexual.
You rock!
