traveling to ny

I have a birthday party in the village next Sunday so I'm going down from upstate ny for the evening. I can take a train round trip for $90 or drive further down and take a train in. Does anyone have a suggestion of where I can take a close train? TY!

If you take Amtrak you'll end up at Penn station and can then take a subway to the Village. If you drive further south you can pick up metro north in westchester county and take that to Grand Central. What subway you take depends on what area of the village you're going to.

If you drive as far south as Poughkeepsie, you can take the Metro-North commuter line in. I'm not sure how much you'll save by driving (you'll have to pay for parking in Poughkeepsie,) but if it's not a lot, I would recommend the train all the way, since it is the most amazingly scenic ride you can imagine along the Hudson.

Thank you both! I'll look into the commuter.
