where on the body are vaccines given?

We have 28 day old and we're going for our one-month check up next week.

Wondering, where on their little bodies do they administer the shots? Our little guy has put on weight, but can't imagine there being any one place where there's enough meat to jab at.

Vaccinations for children are usually given in the thigh where there is usually more "meat". The needles are also shorter than you may be accustomed to.

Also, the first dose of vaxes are usually given at 2 months so I wouldn't expect that you'll get any at the one month visit.

Yep- thigh.

Be sure to research which vaccines you want when. It doesn't have to be one-size-fits-all.

Hi Christian,

Congrats on your new baby! I didn't know this when my son was a baby, but vaccines are not mandatory, and you can delay them (or choose to not vaccinate at all.) There is a lot of literature out there about the pros and cons of vaccination. If you need any information about the "cons", please let us know!

Hi,

Thanks for the responses. I realize now that my two statements had little to do with one another. We are being selective with vaccines and are using a delayed schedule, so we won't be getting one next week. We found a doctor who works with parents on vaccinations!

My question was more out of curiosity when it comes to the little guys. I just don't see where you could jab a needle. But, I guess the thigh looks meaty. Poor little ones.
