6th grade History resources?

Can anyone recommend some good resources for 6th grade history? I have not found a complete curriculum yet that I love and I'm just looking for some good recommendations. If anyone has any good books, websites, etc. to point me to, I would be grateful.

Thanks!

I know I link to this all the time around here, but it's just so handy! You could start here with this list:
http://www.hsfreethinkers.com/curricula/history Although it lists SOTW as being not secular, there is some debate about that. And apparently it's only in the 1st volume. Not that I know whether you're seeking secular or not, I just thought I'd mention it.

We used SOTW for 6th grade & enjoyed it a lot. My own complaint is that it really hops around the world so quickly, it felt a little choppy to me. But I still love & recommend it. From my own personal reading & surfing, it seems that MOH (mystery of history) is one of the most popular Christian history curriculums.

Are you wanting world history, US history, or what? For US history, there is "History of US" by Joy Hakim. It is a 10 volume set and goes into great detail but reads like a story. Our library has it. Depending on the 6th grader, it could be a bit much. My dd is in 5th grade and while she enjoys it, we use it as just one resource. We created a basic timeline of US history and identified key parts that we felt like diving into. We use multiple resources (library, internet, video, museums, etc) to go in depth on our targeted areas. We also always try to look at the 'way of life' for each time period. We also try to read some historical fiction as well as non fiction.

I would love to say I found the perfect curriculum, but I didn't. I can say that I enjoy history a lot more with this approach.
