alternative to baby bjorn?

I am looking for suggestions on slinging my four month old dd. I have a maya wrap which worked great for th first two months or so, but I am not really sure how to use it now that she is bigger and wants to face outward. She seems to love the baby bjorn but it isn't really designed well for her big cloth diapered bum. Are there any good slings/positions where she could face outward and I could still have hands free. I would also LOVE to see pictures of what works for you.

Have you ever seen a baby trekker? They are awesome. I had a bjorn and after he was 6 months it killed my back. The trekker he can still go in. You can wear it like a bjorn or on your back with them facing in or out. It's great. It's a lot more padded and it has one that goes around your waste to help your back. I think their web site is just babytrekker.com. They cost about the same as bjorn if I remember correctly.

I second the BabyTrekker suggestion. I know you can buy them off Ebay sometimes - I found mine at a consignment shop. It is really easy on the back and roomy for the baby.

This is one of the many ways I carry dd, she was about a year old in that pic, but we used that carry position for months and months.... we started with the legs "cross legged" and then as her legs got longer we moved them to the side.

The back carry is only safe after a year

If you go with the baby trekker, be aware you will probably have to roll both the waist straps (up) and the shoulder straps (down) so a baby that age can see out. Unless you have an incredibly tall babe, the trekker is too "deep". My 13mo ds is just now teething level with the top "rail". And that's with the waist straps rolled up once.
