Follow Me On My Weight Loss Journey

I just spent the weekend at my in-laws and I've finally decided that I can't keep doing this to myself. It's nice that I get a little relief and time to myself but it's impossible to eat healthy there. And nobody there supports me wanting to lose weight and be healthier. But I'm tired of making excuses.

I've read a lot of the great information here on this forum and I have plenty of good ideas to start with regarding diet and exercise. And I want to personally thank everyone who has inspired me with their own success. Hopefully I can be a source of inspiration for the next person who follows in my footsteps as well.

But I plan on updating this as often as possible anytime I have some news (hopefully all good!) so be on the lookout.

I've also scheduled an checkup with my doctor just to make sure there aren't any unknown surprises with my health. He's going to run some blood work and check my thyroid levels along with some other stuff.

But I'm officially beginning today... 10/4/2010

My weight: 168 lbs ( according to my scale... maybe I need a new one, j/k)

Good Luck!! Do you have a specific plan?

Thanks for the support!

I'm working on putting a plan together now before I see my doctor later this week. I'm going to put it all down on paper too which should help hold me to it.

Great! The more the merrier. Hopefully we can keep each other honest.

Just an update. I had my doctors appointment today and even though we're waiting on the blood work results, he said that everything else checked out fine. So barring any issues with thyroid, I'm good to go.

I'm hoping for a start to lose about 30 lbs. So if I can get down to 139 lbs (sounds so much better than 140 lbs ) then I would be ecstatic.

What about you?
May I join you? I'm just starting out. I'm at 183 today and I'd like to get to 145. So, almost 40lbs to lose

I'm nursing a 20 month old and I have no idea how many calories I should be eating now. I'm trying to figure that out.

What are you doing for exercise?

I am hoping to get back to the low 150's which is where I was before I had my first DD. So, 15lbs. I am 5'8 so that is in the healthy zone.

I am working on raising protein and lowering carbs. I tend to binge on carbs and I can't stop once I start.

I am pretty sedentary and since I am still nursing a 4 month old and working full time, i don't know when I will be able to start. I will at some point but I am too tired now.

I'd like to join in. I weigh about 168 and want to weigh 145. I had a glorious year (2008) after my daughter was born where I hovered around 150 and felt good and looked great. Since then, I've inched back to where I am.

I need to find time to work out - which will be walking or gardening in my case - but mostly need to stop eating so much, particularly carbs. I had gestational diabetes during the last trimester of my last pregnancy, and radically changed my eating. For that trimester and the year that followed, I was at my best weight in the last decade. Checking my blood sugar several times a day and reporting to my midwife really kept me from ever cheating!

Staying strict with myself is so hard. What will you guys be doing to stay on course?

Thanks for joining in ladies! Hopefully we can all help each other out.

I just wanted to give a quick update since I got my lab work back. Everything checked out OK which is always nice to hear. My doctor said that my thyroid was running a little on the slow side but not enough that he thinks I need to do anything about it yet.

So far, I've been keeping it simple. I've been trying to cook all of my meals and keep my calories around 1800-2000 cal per day. It's a bit of a pain to keep track of but I got a little journal that I keep around to keep me honest.

For exercise, I've been trying to get that in 3 times per week during my sons nap. This has been difficult since it's difficult to resist taking a nap too.

So far I've been at it for about a week and I'm actually starting to feel a little better. I promised myself I wouldn't become obsessed with the scale so I'm not weighing myself everyday. Instead I'm going to weigh in only once per week.

But a week into it and the scale says I've lost 2 lbs!!!

Hopefully it will continue on to next week!

I've actually started keeping a journal where I write down what I eat and some other things like how I feel during the day. Then I force myself to read it at the end of the day.

It's actually a good reminder for me as to why I started doing this int he first place.

Well ladies!

It's been another week and I'm happy to announce that I've lost another 2 lbs!!!

I can't say enough how much my journaling has helped. Highly recommended!

If anyone else is still doing this with me, let me know how you're doing. I need all the support I can get.

Until next time!

Wow! Congratulations on losing 4 lbs so far! You must feel great. I think getting started is the hardest. I am going to try the journal, too. I have just got to do something! I am so unhappy at this weight. The other thing I need to do is buy a scale. Need to know where I am and where I am going.

I turned 35 today, and think losing 35 lbs this year would be the best gift I could give myself and my family.

I'm in!!! I have quit a bit to lose. I gained a bunch of weight with m children and never took it off. Now my babies are 8 and 7 and it's time to get serious about weight reduction. I do have a low thryroid which I take medication for so that's one step against me but I'm in it for the long haul. I think exercise is going to be the most difficult aspect for me. I am a full time student and work part time out of the house as well. My free time is very limited. I think I'll work on my eating first and gradually work in the exercise. I do have a wii fit I could start doing in the early mornings....one step at a time.

I'm still here! I had sort of a bad weekend but I'm determined to stay on track again.

I've been doing the 30 Day Shred dvd every day (except one day) for the past 7 days. I'm toning up a bit but not losing as much as I'd like.

I'm still in it though. I just wish I could lose as quickly as I can gain LOL!!

I wish you good luck ! I decided to go on a diet last year too and was followed by a nutrionnist who gave me a "golden rule": don't lose more than 2 lbs/week. If you're losing either more than 2lbs or les than 2lbs, then it means you should make some changes to your diet.
I stuck to this rule and lost 40 lbs within 5 months.

I didn't log on because I wasn't sure anyone was still with me but I'm glad to hear that you all are still here!

I'm not everly concerned but this week I lost only 1 lb.

But that's still 5 lbs that I'm done so there will be no complaining. And this has been a little bit more of a stressful week for me so probably could have been a little better with my diet.

I've also been talking to a couple of moms from playgroup who seem to be on board with me too which is great support. One just sent me an email this week about something that she read this week online. I think she wanted me to sign up for it so she could get a video for free. So I did and it wasn't quite what I was expecting. It talks about hormones and nutrients and some stuff that's a little over my head.

But now I want to see the video too and I don't have anyone to send this to so I can get it. So if anyone out there wants to help poor little me (ha ha!), sign up and I will be forever grateful.

I'll be sticking to my diet pretty tough this week. And I want to hear from some of you who are losing weight with me.

And lilbee, thanks for your encouragement. You're a testament to exactly what I'm trying to achieve. And if it only takes 5 months then I'll glady do whatever it takes.

I've got some exciting news to share...

I kind of cheated but not really. I've been sticking to my diet but I weighed myself early this week after being a little disappointed with only losing 1 lb last week. So I weighed myself last night and I've already lost 2 lbs. and I still have 3 days to go!

Yeah for me!
Congrats!

Do you know how many calories you're eating each day? Are you sticking with 1800? I really want to lose a little bit and I can't tell if nursing is preventing it or if I'm just not eating the right amount of calories.

Ha! I just realized that I never reported my final weight loss from last week.

Let me get everyone caught up. I atually finished last week losing 4 lbs!

And I decided not to cheat with the scale anymore so I just weighed in and lost another 2 lbs this week but I'm thinking it might have slowed down because I had too much going this past week and it was quite stressful. And when I'm stressed, I find it more difficult to stick to my diet perfectly. But maybe it has something to do with the stress itself which is something I learned from that report I read.

Right now I'm eating right about 2000 calories which has been working for me.

And out of the blue I got an email from the website that my friend sent me where I got that free report from and they want me to be a tester for their new weight loss program. Supposedly, all I have to do is tell them my results. They aren't asking me for my credit card so I don't think it's a scam. I'm going to get some more info before I agree but it's hard to pass up if it's actually real.

Anyone else get this email?

OMG!

I just weighed in for the week and I lost 5.5 lbs!

Let me catch you up to speed. I started emailing back and forth with Karen Brimeyer who created the program I had mentioned. She says she's a nutritionist and functional medicine practitioner (whatever that means?). She agreed to give me some coaching along the way so I figured what the heck. I told her what I was eating and she tweaked my diet a little. I haven't even finished reading through the program but 5.5 lbs is 5.5 lbs. Maybe it was all me but I'm not going to change a thing.

This is just crazy to me. I've never lost that much weight in one week.

I don't want to give out her email address but if anyone else is interested, send me a PM and I'll give it to you. She mentioned that she's still looking for more people to test it out.

This is happening so much faster than I thought it would. Yay for me!

How's everyone else doing??? I need some updates!
