Argument against combo vaccines: can immune system handle so many diseases at once?

I have heard arguments against combo vaccines and giving multiple vaccines at once that basically boil down to "can a developing immune system handle so many diseases at once?" On the flip side, I've heard people say basically "of course it can - bodies are constantly fighting of germs of one kind or another." Thoughts?

I don't know the answer to your question, but I saw it in an interesting perspective recently:

I think our bodies can definitely handle combo vaccines. My problem with combo vaccines is that if you have a reaction you don't know which one it is to. That said, I did do pentacel once I knew DD did not react to DtAP (via deptacel), HIB, and polio. To each their own.

The issue is not whether or not a developing immune system can handle being exposed to multiple diseases/antigens/toxic materials at once. The issue is whether or not the immune system of your particular infant can handle it.

In my opinion there are kids that can handle it (the ones that are vaccinated and seem fine) and kids that cannot (these are the ones that have the reactions) My issue is that while there may be genetic factors that can indicate whether or not your child may be able to handle it or not (ie a family history of anaphylaxis after a certain vaccine), you just don't know (like Hannah Polling....underlying mitoichondrial disorder...who knew!?....that's the whole point. In my mind it's like playing Russian roulette.
