"Seasonal" allergies in an 18mo?

Thread Starter
My DS will be 18mo in a few weeks. Today we tried to go for a walk (it got cut short but that's another thread lol) when we got back he was upset about having to come inside, the scrapes on his knees, and the fact that I put bandaids on them...

And then he started touching his nose. He's not really verbal yet so I can't ASK him why he was doing this. The way he was acting and the way he was doing it made me think maybe it was itching? He rubs his nose from time to time after being outside...but today it seemed to really bother him (or it could have been because it was "just another thing" on top of the others)

Is it possible he has allergies? If so, what can I do for him?? We haven't found a ped for him yet (long story) so I cant just take him in...

For just an itchy nose, I personally wouldn't do anything unless it was really really bothering him. You could try using a netipot on him to rinse the allergens out of his nose. I do this on my 2 year old and he HATES it, but it does really help. Is he having any other symptoms of allergies? Runny nose, red, itchy eyes, cough, etc. If he is, you can give childrens zyrtec 1/2 tsp once a day and see if it helps. I have also seen an allergen blocker by little noses that you rub on the outside of their nostrils before exposure to allergens and it supposedly blocks them from entering the nose....I have used it on myself and it does seem to work.

For natural remedies, high doses of vitamin C help block histamines, and nettles. I'm not sure of the amounts on those though...hopefully someone else will chime in on that one.
