Constipation in BF'ed Infant

DS has been w/o a good BM all weekend! Any ideas for a EBF infant? I am sorta afraid he ingested a leaf part while playing in the grass but he did spit up a lot right after, but unlikely.

BF'ed babies can go several days without a BM with no problems. My DS generally goes every other day or so, and I have heard stories about babies going up to a couple of weeks between BMs if they are EBF.

So, no worries mama!

Don't worry, mama! In EBF infants who aren't eating any solids, constipation is all about consistency not duration between poops. Even if he went 2 solid weeks without pooping, and then pooped a normal consistency poop he wouldn't be considered constipated. If he isn't clearly in pain, then don't worry! The way my doctor explained it (besides the bit above about consistency) is that sometimes, particularly during growth spurts, the baby uses basically all of the milk very efficiently, leaving little waste behind.

Agree with PPs. I think I heard anyting from 7x per day to once every 7 days is all within normal (or something like that).
