Fungus that won't die!

I have been struggling with a fungus that is beyond irritating! My 17 month old has had this for about a year. I have asked her pediatrician several times over the past year what to do about it. He says it definately looks fungal and to just use athlete's foot cream on it.

It's a red raised area, maybe tiny red speckles in it. I have used various foot creams but lately using tinactin cream. I hate to use meds on a little baby as I have to use steroidal cream on her excema parts which are disapearing.

After what seems 2 months of use I finally seem to get it under control and two spots pop up! Ugh!

It's ugly and I bet it's itchy. She has a diaper rash that won't go away lately and I'm guessing it's moved to her butt

Her ad has nothing. I had rashes on the backs of my hands since she's been born that just now healed (why I'm not sure as I've tried creams in the past that also failed).

I also wash her in tea tree body wash.

So frustrating

Grapefruit seed extract!! It's very potent, though, so dilute a few drops (2-3) in a couple tablespoons of water & apply with a cotton ball. This will seriously help. DD1 had the same issue but thankfully I discovered GSE before battling it for a year. Poor baby. (And poor mama, too!)

Have you altered her diet in any way to stave off the fungus? And if she is still breastfeeding you should change your diet as well. Unfortunately fungal infections like you are describing are usually diet related. I've spent many years personally fighting them and what I found out is that as soon as I deviate from my diet the fungus comes back. The foods that I stay away from that contribute to the fungas are dairy, yeast, sugar and gluten.

Oh, I forgot. Take good probiotics too!

I did buy diluted tea tree stuff and it didnt seem to help me. I wanted to experiment on me first but admit I wasn't diligent with it. I will go look for the grape seed

She's gluten free and had been milk protein free. I give her yogurt once a day now. So she should be getting some acidolpholis

With my daughter, I found that it was solely related to cloth diapering. I needed to change her diapers more often to make sure she was always dry, dry, dry. She had lots of naked time & when I was tired of pee everywhere, I put a diaper on her without a cover.

I'm not discrediting diet changes because I'm sure that's the case with some people but a dry bum & GSE worked for us. (And it's grapeFRUIT seed extract ).

I used coconut oil with my youngest. It worked great.

Nice call. I would have gotten the oregon grape seed.

I do have a bucket of coconut oil I tried to use on a cat (vet had her on a year of antibiotics and when I ran out.. yeowser! the yeast!) and it was pretty gross but I could try that at night.

if you CD wash the dipes with some vinegar. Air is a great healer. If she can run around outside with a barebum then that would be even better. The sun helps kill yeast. Give your dd probiotics everyday. If you are still nursing it would be wise to take some grapefruit seed extract yourself and wash your stuff with vinegar. Wash your nipples with a vinegar/water solution (10-1).

I agree with the coconut oil. You got to apply it (i warmed it up a bit) several times a day. It may take up to a week or two but it works!

If the fungus is bad-you need to treat internally and externally. Check out this company, they make several herbal formulas to fight infections. If you call them they may have suggestions as to which one to try first.
