It's getting cold and my skin feels like sandpaper. Shea butter and coconut oil aren't doing the trick and I think that a good sugar scrub might help slough off some of this dead skin. Hit me with your best recipe!

I just mix brown sugar and honey until its the right thickness. Super easy and I love it. Its not fancy but its quick and it works good.
You could also use olive oil or any kind of oil you like to use.

Just mix oil and sugar together until it's the consistency of wet sand. I like brown sugar and coconut oil but you can do any combo you like. If you want it more scoopable, add about 20 - 30% solid butter like shea or cocoa butter. This will help prevent that oil layer on top.

1 cup organic sugar
6-12 drops lavender eo
2 tbl. organic lemon juice, or enough to obtain desired consistency - ADD SLOWLY!
this recipe may sound counter-intuitive with the addition of lemon juice, but it produces lovely results on dry, flaky skin. the acidity of the lemon juice assissts the sugar in sloughing off dead skin cells, while at the same time seems to balance out the ph of skin. my husband loves it too. enjoy!

This is so timely! I was thinking of making some jars of this for gifts. Would it work? Any storage ideas or other suggestions? Thanks!

I just finished making a bazillion jars of sugar scrub and I've got nothing but rave reviews :-)
Fill the jar with raw sugar, top with melted extra virgin coconut oil, 3 drops Lavender EO (or to preference), stir and enjoy!

I've been wondering about making a body scrub with coconut oil and brown sugar. This might be a dumb question, but I'm kind of a newbie at this...do you use it while you're in the shower or before you get in?

Personally, I'd do it before I got into the shower.
