I'm not sure where you got any of that information, but it is absolutely NOT true!! If a child is allergic/intolerant, they CAN react through breastmilk; their age has nothing to do with that. And yes, sensitivities
can go away, but they don't always. If a child has obvious symptoms, I think it's important to address those, not just wait and see if it goes away. If you meant that dairy takes a while to get out of your system, that is correct- it takes about 10 days (possibly a little longer for a nursing babe), but you definitely would see improvements before that.
I agree with a pp- other common allergens for babies are soy, eggs, gluten, and corn, although really it could be anything. It's important to keep a food journal so that you can look for patterns of symptoms in relation to what you're both eating.
