Allergy-friendly cold remedies?

I've got a cold coming on (and so does DH, but I know what to do for him)...

I haven't been able to to Vitamin C in any supplement form (even not corn-derived), because it causes trouble for my nursling. Also can't do mint, because anything in that family hits my milk supply pretty hard. Can't do orange juice. There are other restrictions food-wise... dairy, grains, eggs, soy, various veggies, fruits, and spices...

Any suggestions on how to shorten it or anything that might make my gunky head or slightly sore throat feel better? Right now all that I can think of is chamomile tea with lemon and honey... also going to use a nettie pot if congestion gets bad.

Vitamin D? Zinc?

Otherwise yeah, I'd be doing lots of hot tea, honey, and the neti pot. Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks, I'd totally forgotten about the zinc. I already do Vitamin D, so maybe I'll increase that, too.

I'm hoping that it is short-lived... or at least doesn't bother DS before his weigh-in at the ped tomorrow.
