Pregnant after PCOS

I'm just wondering who here had/has PCOS. I find it a little hard to say that I still have it because I'm not having any of the symptoms anymore (except for extra hair growth but that's just on the bump). I had the oily skin/hair, acne, night sweats, long-lasting PMS, ovary cysts (felt like Mittelschmerz but several times a month), and crazy irregular cycles. Its strange to say that being pregnant makes me feel great... but it does. The morning sickness made me less nauseous than metformin did (which I quit after 10 months because of the nausea) and I actually feel pretty normal. Its a cute little victory not to have to scrub the grease out of my hair every day, I could probably go a week or more now without washing my hair and still not have the same build-up (although I don't).

So... who has/had PCOS and how did pregnancy affect it? If this is not your first pregnancy how was your PCOS between pregnancies?

I have it ....
But I wouldn't say it improves things or changes things much, and definitely doesn't change how I am between pregnancies (4th pg currently). My cycles are a wreck when not PG, I rarely ovulate, and I have severe hypoglycemia (controlled through Metformin and Actosplus, and a strict diet/schedule) from the pcos.

Nice that things are easier for you though . I do think sometimes it can go into 'remission' for a while.. but as far as I know it's not possible to get rid of it..

I have PCOS (my only symptoms are very long, irregular cycles, cystic ovaries, and mild acne). My DD was conceived during our 3rd cycle of ovulation induction (femara, trigger shot, then progesterone supplement). It was our 1st cycle to do IUI as well. This was after about 6 months of us trying on our own (I never ovulated during that time.)
I loved being pregnant and never had any problems! My skin looked better than ever!
I got pregnant with baby #2 a few months ago without ever having had a PPAF. I ovulated for the first time when my DD was 15 months old (still nursing multiple times a day) and we got pregnant on that first try.
I'm not sure if my first pregnancy "helped" my PCOS or what, but it was nice to not deal with the infertility side of it the 2nd time around!

This is my 4th pg. I don't think my PCOS was changed at all between pregnancies. The PCOS got worse slowly over the last 6 years, mainly after my second pregnancy. Being pregnant, I feel great. Probably better then non pregnant. But I can't stay on a strict diet while pg which only leads to more weight gain and worse problems.

With DS my hair was beautiful clear skin, felt the best probably ever.
After DS I ovulated! caught the first eggs (Surprise!)

This pregnancy my hair is awful and my skin is pretty bad.

In between, well I was nursing, but I dropped weight rapidly. I was one of those heavy no matter what I ate or exercised. Then I lost weight no matter what I ate or exercised.

So I don't know. I felt like DS 'fixed' me, but time will tell.

I was just telling my friend how this pregnancy has dried me out (in a good way), I was SO sick of having greasy hair after 12 hours. Now, I can go without washing it 3 days and it looks great still. I also have to shave my legs less, and I am not gaining much weight at all, 8lbs for 7 months of pregnancy. I never once put 2 & 2 together and realized it was because my PCOS is in a hibernation of sorts.

My PCOS was diagnosed when my DS2 was a year old. After I had him and got AF back, my periods stayed pretty normal for a year or so, but we could not get pregnant in that time. It eventually took an IUI & Clomid to get DD. Have her, PPAF comes back pretty normal again, and then I stop having a period again, get a paragard IUD and AF comes back so heavy I expell it and bleed about 1-3oz a day for a full month. I get back on the pill to stop the bleeding... PCOS symptoms not as bad, but I still have oily skin and hair. Insurance forces me to get off the pill for a month while they switch it to mail order, we skip condoms a couple times, and I got a BFP the day my pills arrived.

If you want to stalk my charts, you are welcome too. I usually only track CM, not temps, so I am not 100% that I Oed every month I have O marked since my CM seems to be a lot more fertile looking than my temps. http://tcoyf.com/members/SummerRain/pccharts/1.aspx 3 pregnancies on there, C2, C24 and C 36

I don't get the quick jump in my temps, lol.

These are my last two. I'm not sure if I ever O'd before CD20 though. The chart before those two it wasn't until CD33.

I have pcos. I found pregnancy felt great overall - most of my symptoms disappeared. But unfortunately they did not stay away.

I did have gestational diabetes with my pregnancy though & it was really tough to control despite my best efforts.

We are ttc again - so far it's not going so well.

I have PCOS and Hypothyroid. I did not start to have health problems until 1 year after giving birth to my first though. She was conceived very fast and easily. I was regular and knew the exact date I conceived her.

I tend to believe my health is more due to Hypothyroid being untreated until the past year, but have a few PCOS symptoms. The last year I have been on thyroid medication and have felt great, lost a little weight and after 4 years of trying for #2 pregnant. I think I was not ovulating at all for a while. Since having my thyroid treated I think ovulation was jump started. But my cycles are not perfect like the used to be. I was somewhat regular over the past year and would get a cycle on average every 30 days, a couple times it was 40.

With my current pregnancy though my last period was July 20, however I think I had a late ovulation and conceived some time in August. I am getting an ultrasound on Oct 18th to determine my due date more closely.

I have the hair growth and some of the hormonal symptoms of PCOS ,a year before getting on thyroid medication I had very low estrogen, but I think that improved after thyroid treatment. Haven't had it tested since.

I am early into my pregnancy guessing 7 weeks. But I am curious to see what symptoms subside or don't subside.
With my first little girl, I had GD slightly during pregnancy but nothing else that I know of.

This time I am borderline on my Blood Pressure and about 20lbs heavier.

For a while I wasn't sure I could have another one so we are very excited to be expecting #2
