Wow October! And finally it is cooling off, in fact it's down right cold all of a sudden here! I hope you all and your LO's are doing well! I don't have but a minute but I wanted to see how you all wanted to continue the thread - did you all want to move to the toddlers section right after November is over and is there anyone else who would like to head up the thread over there? I'm willing to do it if no one else wants to just thought I'd ask if anyone wanted to try their hand at it. Well gotta run! I'll post a real post soon!

I don't know if I will be ready for toddlerhood right after November . . .is that how it is usually done? (1st baby so no clue)
It is chilly here too!
Gabe has 6 teeth, can crawl, cruise, and babble . . . will STTN in his crib, but not in bed with us. we are starting to think about #2 . . .
How is everyone else?

I'm pretty sure that they're considered toddlers after one because they toddle while learning to walk - am I right Mommas? This is my first too so I'm not positive. Speaking of toddling Luke took his first steps last Sunday!!!
I'll be darned if he isn't walking by his 1st birthday!
He also has 7 teeth, not STTN yet but he's been doing better sleeping 3-4 hour blocks; for a while it was 1-2 hour blocks and I was going crazy! DH ordered this book from Amazon called Healthy Sleeping Happy Baby - anyone heard of if? I've read a couple pages and it looks like we might just eat the fruit and spit out the pits kind of thing because it does talk about letting them cry for a bit but at this point I'm willing to try anything, not CIO but something different. I have realized he does need to be on more of a schedule b/c it does help him. DH and I haven't been good about getting him to bed at a decent hour on a consistent basis and it shows. Anyone else feel like a zombie - I seriously feel like I can't see straight sometimes
How long do you all plan on nursing, if you don't mind me asking? I've committed to at least 2 years but my birthing instructor who has also been a midwife for years suggested to be done with breastfeeding the first before becoming pregnant with the second - and yes we have talked about the next one, not just yet but sometime next year we're thinking of TTC. I'm guessing b/c it's a toll on the body to build a baby and breastfeed another. Well gotta run, hope everyone is well!

I'm sorta DDC crashing, though I was with you ladies for alot of the pregnancy because my due date was 11/29...
Regarding the second. I was thinking of doing them close together, but then read that 70% of women lose their milk or experience a serious drop in supply by the 20th week and that gave me serious pause because DD is not very interested in solids and super into nursing still.

I always set small goals for BF'ing . . .at first it was until he had teeth, then once I got over my nervousness about that, then until he is a year . . .With that milestone fast approaching I think we will keep on until . . . probably when/if my milk dries up during the next pregnancy. That is what delayed us from TTC sooner, is the BF'ing during the 1st year was so important to us, and I didn't want to lose my milk before he hit that mark.
I do want the decision to BF or not be a mutual one between us. I don't want to take it away if he isn't ready, or push him to continue if he becomes uninterested. so we will see. He is getting alot better with solids; I usually order him a kid's side of something when we go out.
I need to go to the library! I have heard of that book, Happy Baby something, and also want to get the no-cry sleep solution. Right now we put him to bed in our bed (either me nursing or DH cuddling, depending on what he wants/needs that day) and then I transfer him to his crib. He won't go to sleep in his crib; pitches a fit.

I've been reading Sleepless in America and I really like it so far. There's a lot of great advice about helping your child relax before bedtime so that it's easier for them to fall asleep and getting them on a schedule so they don't end up overtired. It's been hard getting my DS to sleep this past month b/c he's developing so fast. He just had a growth spurt and shot up a couple inches, plus he's starting to talk. If I don't get him to bed before his short sleep window closes (6:30-7 pm), it can take an hour or so for him to fall asleep.
I'm planning on BF'ing for at least another year unless DS weans himself. My DS eats so much solid food that he mostly just nurses for comfort now. I was paranoid about getting pregnant while he was still getting most or all of his nutrition from my milk, but now that he's a voracious solid food eater, I'm not worried. I'm going to be sad when he weans b/c it's so adorable when he nurses.

Wow! I didn't realize there was November babes group after our pregnancy group. How did I miss it?
My DD was born on Thanksgiving Day.
I can't believe she's almost one! She has only two teeth. I keep waiting for the others to pop in. She's crawling everywhere, pulling up on furniture, and cruising. She tries to keep up with her older brother and sister.
Still nursing. I nursed DS for almost 22 months and older DD for 30 months. I nursed the first few months of two pregnancies.
As far as sleep, DD still sleeps with us in our bed. She generally goes to sleep around 7-8 p.m. when her older siblings do but that is usually just a nap. She gets up around 9-10 for an hour and then goes down for the night. While I would love for her to sleep in her own space (older DD still crawls into bed with us), babyhood goes way too fast! Our oldest slept with us until about 17-18 months.

I'm sort of here-and-there on these boards, but it's fun to read your updates so I'm happy to share mine. DS was born 11/17.
DH and I have both remarked that he seems to have crossed some invisible line between baby and toddler. He just seems older suddenly - the way he sits, his mannerisms, the way he reacts to us and other stimuli. It didn't happen overnight, but it definitley happened!
He has seven teeth, and the eighth is just coming through now. He's been a wicked teether. The first four came in all in one week back in September, then it seemed like the next four started a week later, but took much longer to come in. I'm hoping we get a break once this eighth one is through!
He's a pretty good sleeper, STTN most of the time. Always been a difficult napper but we've made some progress there. The last month has been kind of all over the place, which we're hoping is attributed to teething. But who knows, right?
He's a big dude, but his weight gain has slowed considerably. He is still huge, but compared to pictures from when he was 6-9 months he looks like he has stretched out some. He's probably around 26-27 pounds.
Solids are going well, he can eat a good amount. We do a mix of purees and chunks. He nurses 4 times per day, usually. I was the same way, akind1, with the short term goals for nursing. I'm planning to nurse until one year, then see what makes sense after that. We are in no hurry to TTC, so that's not a concern at this point.
I can't believe he'll be a year old next month!

Hi moms! I wouldn't mind moving over to the toddler section in November.
DD has been standing for a few weeks now, and last night, she started taking steps! She thinks she's hot stuff now lol!
I had to stop sleeping with her in our bed, since the bed is very high and I'm worried about her crawling out. I made a small bed on our floor, and she will either sleep there, or in her playpen in our room. Sometimes, if I want to put her asleep in the playpen, I will actually crawl inside with her and nurse her to sleep. It works, so I don't care how ridiculous I look!!
We still nurse, and she only eats a bit of solids here and there. Mostly for fun, but not really to fill her up. We will still nurse through her bday, and probably more after that.
Take care ladies!

I can't believe our babies are almost a year old. UNREAL! Piper just turned 11 months old today and I'm in denial, I think, lol. This is has been the most exciting, exhausting, FAST year of my life!
My daughter is doing great - happy and healthy as always. Her sleeping habits aren't quite as good as I would like but I'll take that in exchange for the happy/healthy thing, I guess. Currently reading the "No Cry Sleep Solution" book in hopes that we find something that works out a little better. I know there are lots of babies out there with far worse sleep issues so I also try to keep it into perspective, lol.
She is SO, so close to walking. She took her very first step a few weeks ago but she won't continue the step process, lol. She has been cruising furniture for a few months now so I'm expecting real walking any day but who knows! She stands on her own, and goes from a sitting to squatting to standing position on her own so I know she COULD do it...just won't. Haha!
