Belly casts/painting - Page 2

Why don't you make another one Sasha?

The Rigid wrap doesn't get hot? I'd love to be able to pick something up closer to home, we're running on a budget that won't allow me to order a kit until the 15th and I just want to have the supplies here and make sure my cast gets done for sure... as much as I adore the cream from proudbody I'd do with vaseline goo to make sure it gets done!

How much did you order/use?

My friend is newly pregnant and wants me to do a cast for her, I'm excited! I did a twin cast once a long time ago, I wanted to get a portfolio together I'd LOVE to have bellycasting/decorating as a little side business, but never went further than the one...

The art project sounds beautiful!!

All plaster is going to get a little warm as it sets, including the Rigid Wrap, but its not uncomfortable. Honestly, from the kits I've seen there really isn't much difference in the quality of the plaster gauze. Of course you are going to pay more $$ for the gauze that comes in a kit.

I've always greased up with olive oil really well before casting- vaseline creeps me out so I've stayed away from it. A beeswax balm works well, too.

Thank you

I am afraid to order more because although I have never really had shipping delay problems from Rainbow Resource I am afraid it wont arrive in time... but still if it arrived after the boys are here I am sure I can come up with something to do with it... hmmm

I ordered one roll of the narrow gauze and one of the wide. It was enough for me and I am a pretty big woman. In hindsight I would have ordered another roll of the wide just to make it a little more rigid, but again I am on the large side so if you are a smaller woman then 2 rolls should be more than enough.

I also second the opinion of using olive oil. You can buy a bottle of the really cheap kind at a dollar store or something or if you have some on hand it really doesn't take much. But even with oiling up I still had some pull on my body peach fuzz but it was never what I would call painful or even highly annoying. The great thing about Rigid Wrap is how fast it dries, great stuff.

Ahhh olive oil sounds much nicer!

Warm I can deal with. The medical wrap we used the first time around wasn't hot enough to make me feel burny or anything but the complete coverage of it and the heat was making me feel a little woozy and I'd like to avoid that.

I'm a big mama too Sasha so the info is perfect, thank you! My hubby just sold a big weight machine in the garage for $100, so perhaps I can talk him into spending a little bit on some wrap if Michael's has it. I just want it on hand asap, and darn root canal I had to get at the end of the month really messed up the darn budget.

I did really like the proudbody kit, but since I have the sanding screen and lots of gesso here already I don't *need* a whole kit to do it, if I can get the wrap cheaper. I'll ask my MIL about coupons she always has coupons around

I never noticed mine being hot or warm, even, unless the room was hot it would feel sweaty underneath almost. But then again I have reduced/no sensation on a good portion of my stomach skin from surgery.
