Personalized book help

Hi,
I really want to make a personalized ABC book for my nephew's 1st birthday. Preferably a board book, but I don't know if that's doable. I want to use photos, cutout letters, etc, so I guess I want it to be collage style.
How would I go about binding cardboard pages?
What would I use for the pages?
Also, If It's collage style, what can I coat it with that is non toxic?
I just don't even know where to start.

For binding it, I'd suggest using rings. The type of metal ones you get in office supply stores. From my own experience, kids can't open them well at all (and my three year old tries constantly). If you collage, try Modge Podge for covering the pages. That stuff is great!
