Just a LOVE thread--join in the happiness!

I am so completely loving homeschooling!

I smile when the bus passes our house in the a.m. and we're all still in bed.

I smile when the bus comes by in the afternoon and my son ISN'T getting off of it, tired from a day of school, with homework and after-school activities to pack into the short time until dinner and bedtime.

I love that we're together all day. Truthfully, this was a real concern of mine--how am I going to handle having them home all day? And it's just been such a non-issue.

I love that we can go to a local park and just about have the place to ourselves.

I love that I get to see my kids' "aha!" moments.

I love that we're planning brief family overnight trip next month in the middle of the week!

I could go on all day! Add yours

I love that I get my girl at home with me too!
I love doing school work in our jammies.
Since this is really our first year (since April) I will LOVE not having to get up at 7:00 am every day this winter to start the car and shovel off the mountain of snow.
I love drinking coffee and explaining math!
I love eating lunch with DD everyday!
I love that we can just leave our work in a pile on the table and go to the park/library/movies etc.
I love having an excuse to watch documentaries on Netflix!
I love that little DD-20 months, knows how to hold a pencil correctly and wants to write all the time because she watches big sissy.
I love that I can pack up our work and take it to the farm to help DH when he needs me.
I love how independent DD is getting in completing her work.

Oh, I could go on and on but I love it too!

I love all the cool, fun things DD gets to do that would never fit into our day if she were in school. Like one day recently I took her to see an exhibit of landscape paintings at a local arts center, and then she wanted to do landscapes of her own, so we went home and got out the pastels and sat in our yard where we had a nice view of our field and woods and the hills and drew landscapes. Another time recently I took DS and DD on a spur-of-the-moment backpacking trip on a Friday when the weather was good. Yesterday DD and I went on a 7 1/2 mile bike ride in the middle of the day, and today DP took her over to the college pool to swim for an hour or so. (And then we did more drawing outside - pencil sketches colored in with watercolors this time.) She can spend as much time as she wants outside, looking for interesting insects. We have plenty of time for reading aloud, and DD has plenty of time to draw. There's no stress over bedtime or getting ready in the morning. In the winter, we can go skiing any day we want. Just like the PP's, I could go on and on. Homeschooling is great!

I loved the way my daughter jumped up and down in excitement when she got her python program to work today!

Posted on another site too...

J is just a year old so I'm not homeschooling yet but I have friends who homeschool and I go over to help them with knitting quite a bit. I love that visiting with a friend to learn a craft counts as school.

I love that when my husband walked with me to their house and revealed that he had worn his chain maille vest unerneath his shirt, he was able to give a brief history "lesson" on the use of chain maille and that counted as school too.

I love that we can start school at 10 instead of 8, since none of us are morning people

I love even more that I can curl up with my boys in my bed for reading.

I love telling my boys, "Time for science! Now go make some mud!" (Did this last week to study footprints, and they were shocked that school could be playing in the mud )

What a great thread!

I love that I get to cuddle my two when we first wake up, watching Timeblazers together (history before breakfast, wonderful!)

I love that the only time we have to set an alarm and rush out the door in the mornings is when it's something that *we* set up purposely!

I love that I get to spend SO much time with them. Time flies so quickly and I want to cherish it.

I love that we constantly have a million books everywhere in our house (library, amazon addiction, etc.) I love that I have to sometimes say "enough reading - it's time for a bath", hehe.

I love that at 7.5, my daughter is taking a sewing class, totally loving it, and saying that she wants a sewing machine.

I love that my 7.5 year old sometimes knows more than I do about history and science! When asked "how'd you know that?" she usually responds that she read it in a book, or saw it on a Bill Nye or Timeblazers or whatever!

I love researching new curriculums, new books and audio, getting homeschool magazines, reading this forum, etc. It's become my little addiction (along with amazon shopping for the best prices on books!)

Really, there are just so many benefits of homeschooling that I love. I feel really and truly lucky that we can!

I hold myself back on facebook and with friends so I LOVE this thread and this forum!!!!!!

I love homeschooling. I love it.

I love that I get to spend the day with my daughter. Every day!

I love that we get to choose what we do each day. We decide (OK she does) when we get up. I love starting the day reading books to each other in bed.

I love being able to relax with a cup of coffee on a rainy morning. I love being able to pack up and go to the park on a sunny day.

I love that my mother is here right now, on a wednesday spending the day with my daughter. If we were on a school schedule we'd have to jam family visits in on weekends with ten billion other things.

I'm sure I'll be back later to update my love list. It feels so good to let it all out!

I love that DS and I eat 3 homecooked meals (slowly!) at our own dining table on most weekdays! (Only wish DH could too!)

I love that DS helps cook those meals!

I love that DS sees people of all ages during the day and knows how to interact with all of them.

I love how much choice we have--in just about everything! How we spend our time, where we spend our time, what we eat, what we do. We have chores and such of course, but there is still so much choice!

I love having a leisurely breakfast with my DD.

I love making a bajillion trips to the library with her for free books, anytime.

I love building her vocabulary and appreciation by walking around downtown and having her identify things like totem poles and sculptures and describe what she sees to me.

I love being able to provide her with healthy and nourishing food that I prepare for her myself.

I love having the time and opportunity throughout the day to teach her our values and have her "help" me with household chores.

(okay, I'm cheating because my DD is only 2.5y/o. However, she is the only one of her friends not in PS yet, so I feel very homeschooly about it...)

I love how my daughter supplements phonics with writing the newest words she's learned in hieroglyphics.

I am loving this year in general!

I love that we can take a whole week off to visit family!

I love that we can take our time and move at our pace!

I love that my children are calm and relaxed!

I love that when we feel like going somewhere or doing something, we can!

I love that my children are very interested in science, history and math!

I love that we can read all day or play all day!

Thanks for the thread of joy this morning!!!

I love that my older two kids spent the night at Grandma's last night--a Thursday night during a regular school week! (we usually don't do much school on Fridays--just catch up on anything we missed during the week).

I love that my 2 yo missed them when she woke up because she's used to them being around.

I love that we're meeting my parents for lunch in the middle of the day today and I don't have to rush back for the school bus.

I love that my MIL is totally on board and is actually planning a field trip for my kids.

I love that my oldest gets to spend her day with our baby---I can't imagine them missing out on this time together!

I loved telling my daughter yesterday that I would take her to "Mount Vernon - the real place where George Washington lived." She squealed and threw herself at me and hugged me so hard I could barely breathe.
