Best prefolds for newborns (in Canada)?

Hello

I'm looking at prefolds for baby for the first few months (already have diapers for older babies from ds) and am trying to figure out the best prefolds to buy. Bummis seem popular, and I can get them locally. Then there seems to be Indian or Chinese organic unbleached prefolds at various online stores, though I can't tell which places are selling the same things - which doesn't help for figuring out quality or comparison shopping!

I don't want to ship from the US if I can help it. Any Canadian suggestions? Thanks!

Thanks! I've looked at that thread before, but what I don't know is what prefolds are best quality. (Or does it really matter?)

For example, sogreenbaby.come sells Chinese prefolds that have dark green stitching for infant size and are $2.50 each. Bynature.ca sells organic Indian prefolds that start at $4.16 each for infant size (price reduces the more you buy). Theclothdiapershop.ca sells Chinese prefolds with green stitching for infant size (so maybe the same as sogreenbaby?) for $2.45 each. Jamtots.com sell Chinese prefolds with the dark green stitching as well (says they are Green Earth Textiles Chinese Prefolds) and infant size is $2.50 each. Bummis are sold in lots of places, starting at $17 for a pack of six and going up in price depending on store. Anyhow, so those are the Canadian options I've come across so far - I guess really the choice is between the Bummis and the Chinese prefolds, since the Indian prefolds are the most expensive. I'll probably just go with Bummis, but would like to know they are good!!

My rule of thumb when comparing is that if they're from the same country of origin, the same color (white vs natural) and have the same color stitching, I assume they're all from the same company. And since the prices are all so close together, I'd say that's a safe bet.

The Bummis really are great. They're best compared to the Indians though, since both are organic.

Have you looked on Diaperswappers? They have a section just for Canada FSOT.

Bummis prefolds are Fantastic!!!

Hi there,

I have Bummis prefolds and LOVE them. They aren't really much more expensive than anything else but you know you're getting really high quality, soft, thick diapers. And they're organic to boot!

Good luck!

We've been using the Bummis prefolds on my daughter since birth, and haven't had any problems at all. They're good, really!

I've purchased both indian (not chinese they aren't as good, I have read) and bummis, and the bummis are cheaper and thicker by far, though I do like how soft and gauzy the indians I have seem. I have also definitely seen the bummies for about $12/6 so you should be able to find that?
