Anyone get their period back before 6 months?

I just started my period this moring and DS (DC #2) is 5 days short of 6 months. I am shocked because with DD (DC #1) I didn't get my first period until she was around 12 months.

I don't supplement but I do work out of the home and pump for when I'm not home. However, I pump at least as much as they eat every day. And exclusively breastfeed when I'm at home and, on the 2 days I work all day, I see the kids and nurse over lunch. But with DD I worked a TON more than I do now and was pumping way way more than I am for DS. And he hardly nurses during the day when I am home anyways. They both reverse-cycled when I went back to work.

Funny thing is, I had no signs of my period at all until I had reflexology about 2 weeks ago and noted extreme tenderness over my uterus/ovaries point. The practitioner asked if I was about to get my period and I said I really didn't think so. So she said maybe things just haven't settled back to normal yet, which I thought was more likely. That evening and for 3 days later, I had lots of uterine cramps. Then started to pass lots of mucus. And now, today, here is my period!

I'm curious to hear if others have experienced something similar. I am also totally new to this forum and don't know what any of these abbreviations are, so please let me know what they stand for if you use them.

Thanks!!!

Yep. First 2 daughters I got it back 6 weeks PP and they were EBF! DS It wasn't until 9 months PP so I was pleasantly surprised. Didn't do anything different. Just individual pregnancies/babies I guess.

With my first I never got my period back - I just got pregnant again when he was 13 months old. With my 2nd, my period came back at 5 months I couldn't believe it! But it has been regular ever since then, even with exclusive breastfeeding until she was about a year.

6 weeks pp with EBF baby. Needless to say I wasn't thrilled.

I got mine at 5 weeks PP (and 2 weeks after I stopped with the PP bleeding) with my DD who was at that time still EBF. I was *not* a very happy camper - I'd really been looking forward to at least a few months off!

Wow! Thanks for sharing! I definitely feel less surprised now...

Oh, and DS is 10 days short of 6 months. I forgot when his birthday was!

I've exclusively breastfed, no pumping, co-slept, etc. and I always have gotten my period back way before 6 months. It's a little annoying.

With DS1, it was around 3 months... with DS2 and DD1 at 2 months. I'm hoping with DS3, I'll at least make it a few more weeks.

I'm always so jealous of those Mamas whose periods don't return until after 6 months.

Yes, within 4 months all 3 times!

Me too... 4 months PP with DD, 3 months PP with baby-DS while EBF. It seems to come back for me once the little ones sleep long(er) through the night. DS started doing it before DD did, so it makes sense.

Not thrilled with it (and was it ever HEAVY this time around)... but at least now I can track my cycle better and maybe DH and I can have one or two evenings a month of totally uninhibited

(We aren't planning another any time soon, if ever!)

yep at 4 months PP. I was so hoping to not get it until done with nursing or pregnant again! oh well.

I had warning though; fertile CM about 2 weeks before (and I mean, gobs of it)

So do y'all think that getting your period back, even this early, means you're fertile too? I'd always heard that exclusive BF was great birth control for the first 6 months...

I got my period back at 8 weeks pp, while breastfeeding on demand around the clock. I wasn't stoked.
I don't particularly trust BF as birth control.

I got mine when my baby was only 7 weeks and was exclusively breast-feeding. My midwife said it may have something to do with how well she sleeps at night. I only breastfeed her once usually at about 4 a.m. and she goes down at about 7p.m. and it has been that way since about 4 weeks....I guess I should be happy about the sleep....but I only got it once and it hasn't returned. I actually bought a preg. test today just to make sure...

Also 4 months here, at least with my second. I went longer with my first, about a year.

My AF returned when I was 4.5 months pp. My dd nursed so much all day and began STTN at 3.5 months. I wasn't worried about waking her to nurse during the night as she was continuing to gain 1 pound per week. We did bed share, and I would have nursed her if she had woken up, but she didn't. I expected that AF would follow soon after, and it did. I couldn't really complain as I was so grateful to have so much unbroken sleep

My son nurses several times through the night, but not as much during the day.
