Taking her clothes off!

This is about my daycare girl. She's 20 months old and has recently discovered how to take her clothes off. Particularly, her pants and diaper (she's in disposables). If I leave the room for more than a minute or so, I come back to a mostly naked little girl! Mostly, it's just a pain putting her clothes back on her. She really doesn't seem to understand why she needs to leave her clothes on.

Taking them off during playtime isn't too big of a deal, but she's taking her clothes off during naptime. She sleeps in a bedroom in a pack and play, so I'm not in there with her during naptime. She's been waking up, not letting me know she's awake, taking off her clothes, sometimes going to the bathroom in the pack and play. That's a lovely surprise when I go to get her up!

Today, she did it and had pooped in the pack and play with no diaper on! Talk about a disgusting mess!

When she does it, I've been sternly telling her we don't take our clothes off, leave your pants on, etc. I have even resorted to time outs when it's repetitive throughout the day. But, she just thinks it's funny when I have to put her clothes back on and keeps doing it.

Suggestions for how to curb this?

fun times Mal! I wonder if at least for nap time you could put her in a pair of one piece footless zipper jammies- but put them on backwards so she can't get to the zipper. Might be worth a shot.

Another thought... do you think she can get snaps undone? You could put a snappable diaper cover over her sposie so she can't get it off.

Hope you find a good solution!

Onsie-my son has figured out how to get his diaper and pants off, he just turned 1....Onsie solved it, he can't undo the snaps.

I would put My older dd in footed jammies with a zipper and snap over the zipper to keep it on. A friend of mine used duct tape on her dc girl's diaper during naps to keep it on.

Onesies worked for my first, who was a nudist. Snaps are hard, and that's a tough area to unsnap for them anyway. Timeouts are not going to stop a 20-month-old from doing anything.

My nephew was a huge nudist.
He could strip naked in the blink of an eye. Once at the grocery store my sister turned around to look at the cereal's and when she turned back around he was sitting in the cart with nothing but a sock and a grin.
She resorted to him wearing backwards clothes almost all the time for a few months. Mostly overalls backwards would keep him in, or at least take him long enough that she could get to him and distract him. That and she let him have lots of naked time at home or in the yard. It was summer. He eventually got over it.
Now he is 13 and I like to remind him that he used to be a nudist.

you might consider discussing with the mom the possiblity of starting potty training. If she's undressing and taking off her diaper, then going potty, that could be an indication that she knows either when she's wet, or when she's going to be, and she doesn't like it.

They have been working on potty learning at home. Not real formally, I don't think. We've been working on it a little here too. I think this is where it's coming from. During playtime, I do put her on the potty if she tries to take her clothes off and at diaper changes. She hasn't gone for me yet, but her mom says she has a couple of times at home. It's really just at naptime that I'm worried about it. She doesn't always let me know she's awake and the diaper is already off by the time I hear her moving around in there.

I talked to her dad about it yesterday. I think, today, I'm going to try putting a cover on over her diaper at naptime. I'll talk to her mom and see if she'd be able to start sending something with crotch snaps for her to sleep in.

Google "duct tape" and "diaper", alot of people have used that method successfully...
