What makes you melt?

Thread Starter
Dd is three weeks old tomorrow, and I have to say...I am past the head-over-heels in love phase that happens when you first give birth (where you're ga-ga about your baby, but they still feel like a stranger), and now I'm into the true love part of mothering her. I love this. I love HER. I love that I know her, and she knows me, and we have this incredible little relationship already.

I melt when she makes her little snorts and (loud!) grunts. Even at night, when (compared to the rest of our quiet house) it sounds like someone let a horse or pig into the room.

I melt when she falls asleep and happily nuzzles my boob and nipple with her nose.

I melt when her hands reach out for contact...as soon as she touches my skin, she calms.

I melt when I wake up in the night and see her little chin and cheeks propped up on my arm, or leaning between my arm and chest. Such a contented, chubby-cheeked sleepy face!

I melt when she gives that little fierce-eyed expression as she settles in to nursing and realizes it's go-time. She crinkles up her nose, furrows her brow in concentration, stares with her intense eyes, then dives in. So funny.

I melt when I see our kids reach out to pet her silky soft hair...even ds1, who has never shown much interest in babies. All of us just want to be near her, touching something so incredibly soft (and wow does she smell good!).

Amanda_Reyasmom, LOVE her chubby lips!! And her long dark hair

I love my little guy's goofy smiles when I change his diaper. I love that when he's done eating, he stretches then snuggles under my breast to sleep. I love it when he falls asleep on my chest. Sometimes I even love nursing him at night!!!

And I lovelovelove it so much when he grins and laughs in his sleep. Makes me happy I have a baby who feels so good about life that he laughs in his sleep Sigh...

This made me (Big sister is holding Lila so now I can properly answer ) I love it when they use your boob for a pillow, like there's no place in the world they'd rather be.

Thank you! That's so very sweet about the sleep smiles. Lila is very *meh* about life. She's not fussy, but she doesn't seem happy For instance, when Reya would get the hiccups she'd scream bloody murder. When Lila gets them, she just kinda suffers silently.. like she expects to be miserable. She seems very jaded and glares at me like she resents the fact that I gave birth to her!

I LOVE when Mae giggles in her sleep too!

Cracked us up the other day because I was holding her and DH said to her (though she was asleep) "In a few years this will gross you out" then gave me a kiss and at that moment she just burst out giggling in her sleep with a big smile on her face. Too funny!

I melt when DH cannot get her to calm down, hands her to me and she is instantly quiet. Doesn't really want anything to eat, just wants mommy. (She does the same for Daddy sometimes too)

Oh my gosh, the sleeping giggles! I love them. I never knew a baby could giggle in their sleep. Ds2 was a grumpy baby--no giggles there. He woke up crying. Still kinda does.

His fishy face--when he wakes up, big eyed, looking around with his mouth open--so cute!!!

DS sleeping on DH's chest. Nothing sweeter.

Big sister kisses and snuggles--my DD2 loves to hold him. It's crazy how much she adores him.

His fat little face all squished up in my sling.

I too love all the little snorts and grunts!

The sweet, sweet smile in her sleep. I swear my other two didn't smile like this, or this often.

All her funny faces She has a very expressive little face, topped off with dark eyebrows that exaggerate every look. She has this one look we call the stink eye, when she's starting to get upset or concerned about what's going on and she scowls. It's the funniest look on a teeny baby!

When she's gotten herself all worked up in DH/DD/etc.'s arms and comes back to Mama, and snuggles in and stops crying. She already knows it's me, and is happier just to be back in my arms.

OMG, Carrie, that tongue-out pic is hilarious!! My DD2 had the dark eyebrows at birth--makes every expression even funnier because they are sooo exaggerated.

Watching daddy spend time with her

My ex never wanted much to do with the older two, even as they got older. DH has been involved with all three right off the bat (granted DS and DD1 were 4 and 2 when we started dating...)

It absolutely melts my heart to see DH do things like that... or simply just burp her or talk to her or change her diaper...

I cant help but giggle at how much of a first-time dad he is too... he worries about the things all first time parents worry about that veterans know about (little girls having a bit of blood in their diaper, umbilical cord falling off so soon, oh do those hiccups hurt? lol)

He gets so sad when he tries to burp her and it doesn't work as fast as it does for me... I have to keep reminding him I have a LOT more practice than he does and with time he will get just as good at it.

Sleep smiles
Asleep after nursing

Pretty much, when he's asleep. lol

When she grabs my fingers while nursing and holds on so tightly.

When she falls asleep on my chest after eating.

When she makes little cooing sounds.

When I'm holding her and she looks very intently at me, as though she is studying me closely.

When she calms down once she's in my arms.

When I see DH holding her.

you guys pretty much have said it all.. i love the cuddling while nursing and how she holds my boob with both hands and really snuggles in. i love her sleepy smiles and giggles. i love the way she smells and how she wants me more than any body! i'm completely in love with her! she's amazing!

I love how squishy and little he is. I love how he holds my shirt and my boob while he is nursing. How he sounds like a little piggy. His cute little snores. How he imitates us when we open our mouth wide or stick out our tongues (and I swear I saw a smile the other day). How DD says "I love you" to him. How his face looks so happy and peaceful after he does a big poop.

One thing I wish is that he would look in my eyes more. I remember DD doing it a lot and DS doesn't seem to do it much at all. I actually worry about it a bit and hope it isn't a sign of autism or anything.

Sleepy smiles They may not be as defined as DD1s, but she does indeed have dimples.

Don't be. Dd1 was super social right off, and could look at us. She could hold her head up right away, etc. Ds couldn't. It's very common for them to look out of the sides of their eyes; they can see better that way unti their eyes develop better. It's a sign of still developing eyesight, not a mental problem.

When I go to nurse him, he'll get his mouth near the boob-- pull his head back and raise his eyebrows like "what IS this thing here?" then he does this little breathy "ha ha ha" and starts nursing. It seriously sounds like an evil villian laugh ROTFL. Like "I've got you now!"

When he finishes nursing and I'm holding him and he's dropping off to sleep-- and he'll suddenly split into this huge grin.

That is so sweet

There is nothing more adorable, in the entire world, than a man snuggling a baby.
