I felt this way when my friend had me over for dinner and offered me a beer... I didn't even have any, but it was so nice to be respected as an adult. It probably doesn't help that all my friends are still very much in the college aged/single young adult mode, and are freaked out by the idea of a baby or "settling down", so it is just another way isolated and pushed away.
My midwife has read studies showing safety in an occasional drink (she said even having one every day showed no ill-effects) so she told me it was fine to have an occasional drink. She already knows me well (I nannied for her) and she knows I rarely have more than 1-2 in an evening anyways, so moderation is not a struggle for me. I have had a couple drinks since I found out I was pregnant/she gave the ok, and I reeeaaaallly enjoyed them (I have totally craved red wine

). Usually when there is alcohol around I don't partake, but I do respond to my friends "well that better not be alcohol!!!" with a bit of education.
