Coloring hair while ttc?

Hi Y'all,
I want to know everyone's opinion about this. I have quite a bit of gray which I usually get colored every once in a while... I haven't since we've been trying but now it looks really gray! I don't really mind not coloring, but since I'm not pregnant yet, should I just go ahead and do it?

Thank you...

Maybe do it right after your period, to be safe.

I did a coloring WHILE pregnant.

Just find a good hair stylist and talk to them about your concerns with being pregnant, many will be more than happy to show you the ingredients in their hair coloring, which contain less harmful chemicals than home coloring does.

Is highlighting hair as dangerous as a full coloring? I get mine highlighted regularly, and hadn't considered stopping while TTC. Guess that'll give me something to Google later today...

I don't really colour my hair that often so I am not going to do it while TTC. I have decided to stop painting my toenails though (once the current colour flakes off). The summer is over anyways, so there's not that much reason to do it.

I sympathize! I am SO grey, and am also TTC (well, just had a BFP, so maybe moving on). Anyway, I kept colouring every 3 months or so, but always did it right after my period.

Is painting toenails supposed to be a concern?

Well some nail polishes contain a type of phtalate that may or may not cause birth defects (I don't think anything has been proven conclusively).

Also the fumes of nail polish and nail polish remover are pretty strong... if you want to reduce your exposure to chemicals, that is an easy place to start.

I was doing some research online about hair coloring...
Everything I've read said it's "most likely" safe... not exactly reassuing. But, all the internet articles recommend waiting until the second trimester to dye hair, when the fetus isn't as vunerable. Also, several sites recommend highlighting hair instead of a full hair coloring, because with highlighting the chemicals don't come in contact with your scalp like they do in a full-on hair coloring.

Now I'm off to research the nail polish thing.

I bleach my hair, which requires some pretty strong chemicals. But, I only do it every 4-5 months, as I like the look when I have obvious roots.

I only do it during my period, normally cd1-2.
