Culturelle for Kids

I ALMOST bought this yesterday, but the price scared me. 19.99 for 30 packets? And I have 2 kids, so thats 15 days worth?

Im just curious. The instructions are very vague and the pharmicist seemed annoyed with my question, so I just blew him off.

I like to mix emergen-c with 4C pomagranite and wild berry mix in a pitcher. SO I was wondering what any of you would think to me also mixing one or two packets of the culterelle in there? The Pharmacist said it supposed to go in a small cup of milk or juice. But I don't see how mixing it in a pitcher and drinking it over time would be bad, right? I mean one packet has a billion organisms, so instead of that many in one sitting, theyd be getting like 500,000 every day or so. Thats better then nothing, right?

Does my logic make sense?

Well, Culturelle is expensive, but there are lots of studies backing it. I personally don't use it except for specific instances. I would use another broad spectrum probiotic for everyday.

maybe better than nothing but it depends on what you are trying to treat?

also remember that if you stop taking it the benefits stop.

Culturelle is lactobacillus only, my DS needed bifidobacteria most of all. We didn't find it effective at one capsule/day for him and two for me. I've heard that other kids with significant digestive issues needed several per day.

I am actually interested in it as a preventitive measure. (There is nothing to treat, yet) I already give my boys yogurt every day for the probiotics. But last year we were bombarded with GI bugs, and I was hoping to try to put up a good barrier against that as much as I could this year.
