I bought some camu camu powder from Terramazom via our local United buyig club. It was something like $8 or $9 for 2 oz. I'm coordinating a www.mountainroseherbs.com co-op locally (pm me if you're in No. VA and interested I want to get the order finalized by the end of Oct.). I'm wondering if any of the berry powders they sell would have a similar vit C content..

ooh! I see they sell amla berries, but they're in whole form...

oooh! also see acerola berry powder, but it's $33/lb (still beats my Terramazon, though! and we'll get a co-op discount). what should of make of this?

If not sold as a juice, the liquid is concentrated and pasteurized, and then spray dried into a powder. The type of acerola powder offered by Mountain Rose Herbs is spray dried into an organic maltodextrin carrier that is made from organic manioc root, and is standardized to have not less than 17.5% natural vitamin C.
no camu camu powder... unless it's called something else

is it safe to assume we could get a decent dose of vit C by putting about a Tb of the acerola berry powder into a smoothie?

thanks for any thoughts on these berries!

The 4 oz size has about 80 servings of 250 mg. each (the recommended adult dosage from Sally Fallon's Eat Fat Lose Fat) working it out from 17.5%

So 1 lb would be 320 servings.

Jane, just to confirm, you're saying the 4 oz size of the acerola berry powder has 80 servings? Thanks so much for responding! Never would have guessed from the title that EFLF would have stuff about vitamins. I have it on my "to read" list. Thanks!

Yes, I converted ounces to mg.

EFLF is like a mini version of "Nourishing Traditions" ... lots of vitamin/mineral info there from a traditional food perspective.
