Bedrest

Well, for the last few days I haven't felt well, I've had a lot of swelling and my hands and arms have been tingly/numb, headaches, nausea, etc. I saw my OB this morning and bp was 142/84. My bp is normally low even when pregnant, like 105/65, so especially high for me. They had me lay on my left side for awhile and it went down to 113/71. Since it went down with me resting my OB said I could do bedrest at home. I go back Monday to get checked again. Good news is my cervix is now 1cm and 60% effaced, so at least if I do end up having to get induced my chances are better that it will work (can't have prostaglandins to ripen my cervix since i've had 2 c/s).

I'm supposed to call if I keep having trouble even with the bed rest. Just the 45 minute drive home left me with tingly arms and a headache and spotty vision, uggh. Dh is taking off of work so he can take care of the kids and the house. Prayers and good thoughts that the bed rest keeps my bp down are appreciated!!

Oh man, that totally sucks. Hopefully the bed rest does the trick and you get to go on to have another vbac without the stress of an induction. I'll be keeping you in my thoughts.

What a bummer! I hope the bed rest helps and that your blood pressure lowers. Take advantage of the extra rest while you can

Try and enjoy the rest period Mama. Hopefully your BP will stay down and all will be good

I'm so sorry! Not fun at all. Just try and see the positive and enjoy the rest. Let DH take care of things. Good vibes coming your way!

Thanks! Dh bought me a blood pressure cuff (ever since I almost died from my ruptured ectopic pregnancy he's a total nut anytime I get sick), as long as I stay laying down my bp is fine. But if I get up it shoots right up I took a nap and took it while i was still in bed and it was normal, like 120/71, got up and peed and came back and it shot up to 161/89. Just from using the bathroom, uggh! So I'm going to be good about my bed rest all weekend, but if it's still like this on Monday, I'm pretty sure I'll be having the baby. Hopefully he'll come on his own over the weekend so I don't have to stress about it!

You're in my prayers. I was on bedrest with high blood pressure with my third. It's a pain in the tushie, but worth it.

How are you doing today? I thought about you. I'm kinda joining your bed rest club. My BP is climbing. 140/90 Yikes! Just found out today. I have to stop working and take it easy. Modified bedrest. My midwives are coming back to my house on Sunday to check it again. Not fun. I'm going to try to enjoy to downtime but it's not fun.

I did 9 weeks of side-lying bedrest with DS1 and a week of it with DS2 (before restricted activity). It's awful.

I hope your baby comes very soon!

Uggh that sucks, Beth! I'm doing okay, it's boring and frustrating, but I'm 40 weeks today at least, so I know I won't have to do it long. It's crazy how much of a difference laying down makes, even just sitting up only takes a few minutes for my bp to climb.

Was thinking of you today. Hope you're doing ok and the baby comes soon!

(((hug)))

im so sorry mama.. BP stuff is serious though, so i hope that you really are resting!
but i know how you feel in a way.. im on bed rest for pneumonia and a broken/dislocated rib from coughing (i cant really move witthout insane pain so its not even an option for me) its no fun..i look around and there is so much to do and my kids/DP are worried and i just can't do anything but sit in bed (laying down hurts too much) blah.

im sending you healing vibes and really hope that you get to have the birth that you want.

Sorry you're on bedrest too, mamafern! Don't worry, I'm being good about following my bedrest! It's hard not to, even just being up long enough to take a shower and my bp shoots up and I feel horrible My OB is very hands off especially for vbacs (this would be my second vba2c) but I'm hoping she'll okay induction when I see her tomorrow. She mentioned it as a possibility when I saw her last week (she basically said if my bp was still up tomorrow my options are bedrest until I go into labor on my own, c/s, or induction). Being past my edd I don't see the point in risking more serious bp issues by continuing. I know bp issues can get really bad really fast and unfortunately the only "cure" is delivery :/
