18mo not napping

We went from fighting naps and finally going down to NOT NAPPING AT ALL.

Ugh, I know this won't go over well but I'm so frustrated: He's a brat when he doesn't nap.

Top it off, on days that he doesn't nap during the day he tries to nap super early in the evening (like, Tues he crawled up on the couch and fell asleep at 6:30pm) He won't stay asleep so I can't let him go to sleep that early. (Trust me, if I thought that was "bedtime" I'd let him)

He's also been staying up later at night...like, between 9-10pm. He slept in the other morning (really late night) but hasn't since. I have NO idea why he suddenly seems to not need sleep.

Is it developmental?

We are having the same "issue", granted he is 24 months but its been going on for a long time with fighting the naps, I finally got tired of trying for over an hour to try to get him to sleep. He naps every other day, sometimes a "real" nap in bed, sometimes just a catnap wherever he happens to doze off. And yeah, crankiness is increased and for some reason he wakes up even EARLIER in the morning.. but I am writing this off as an adjustment phase, he has been "off" the naps for about two weeks now.

It's only been a few days... I hope this isn't a long phase.

My DD dropped most naps at 19 months, I could still get her to sleep if we took a drive she'd nap, but otherwise they were off. This has been the deal for over 2 years.

All four of my kids stopped napping by their 2nd birthday - though, 18 months does seem pretty young. He could be ready to give it up? or maybe it's just a phase.

mine won't nap either. She also goes to bed at 8 and wakes up at 7. 11 hours is not enough for sure. I was thinking maybe she is chornically tired or something and the lack of sleep is making her sleep less so I tried blacking out her bedroom... she slept til 8 for a couple days and then went down to SIX and is back at 7.

I THINK part of the issue is she doesn't get enough activity but I can't do much about that right now. If she had a bunch of kids to run around with for hours every day she'd probably be better.

Same problem with my 20 month old. He either will not nap at all (at least half the time), or crashes way too late in the day (so I have to wake him up if I don't want him awake until 1AM). Regardless, he's a bear to get to sleep at night too - just goes and goes and goes until I'm way too tired (I'm 30 weeks pregnant, which doesn't help). I don't think he gets enough total sleep - around 11 hours total yesterday - but I don't know how to force someone to sleep?
