Cloth Detergents

Thread Starter
Im looking for input on cloth diaper detergents.

What have you tried? Whats your personal favorites? Any pros/cons to help me make this decision?

I want to use something thats safe for my diapers and wont damage them or cause build up. Ideally I'd like to go with a detergent thats easy to get locally at grocery or baby stores. Cost effective is a plus too.

If it makes any difference, we have a high efficiency front loader.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!

If cost is important I'd go for Charlie's or Country Save. Both are great for baby's clothes, cloth diapers and both are cheap. You can even get a big discount and free shipping on Country Save if you do subscribe and save through Amazon.

Hi!

My hands-down favorite detergent is homemade! I make it out of fels-naphtha bar soap (you can get it many grocery stores for about $1, and there are other brands of laundry bar soap that work great). You'll also need washing soda and borax and water. The recipe (search for it on the Duggers' website, LOL) makes about 10 gallons for about $10. Super duper cheap and makes diapers so soft and white with no damage or buildup.

I add borax to the soak and vinegar to the rinse as well.

I cloth diapered for nearly 10 years total. This is what worked best.

oh-- and when I bought detergent, I did like Country Save a LOT! c:
