Can diastasis recti hurt???

I have a gap of about 2.5 fingers, which is definitely my worst so far. Everything I've read so says that it's just no big deal (unless it doesn't repair later). But I've been getting some pretty sharp cramps (almost contraction-like) when doing medium-duty activities.

They're much higher and more localized than my usual bh's, and they're wrapping around to my back (mid, not lower). I can't help but think it's related to my abdominal muscles. It's definitely more than "no big deal", since it does manage to knock the wind out of me for a few seconds!

I'm not sure... I have it too but besides looking really funny it hasn't hurt.

After DD2 was born, when she was 7 weeks, i went for a run, and evidently my diastasis recti hadn't healed yet and YES it hurt, for over a week after i had tearing pain at the gap whenever i engaged my core. I saw a doctor about it and he said don't run until it's painfree (i haven't run since, i'm so heavy still, i'm concerned about hurting my feet).

It didn't hurt when i was pregnant, but it sure hurt after.

Mine hurt when I was pg w/ DD... but it wasn't anything I would have called contraction-like, it was more of a pulling/tearing feeling when I would move a funny way.
The contraction-likeness of yours might worry me, tho. Hope you're feeling better.
