Brown discharge for several days after period - anyone know why?

I have three kids and the youngest is two. I don't take any birth control.

Ever since my last son was born I have had strange periods - painful ovulation with bloody show, periods will stop and then start again and sometimes I have a lot of tiny clots...something that I have never had before.

Now for the past few months after my period ends I get this gooey brown discharge for several days after my period (like 7-10 days) and it's pretty heavy discharge at times. Sometimes it will fall in the toilet. It's the same type of discharge that you get during ovulation - the egg white type, but i'm not ovulating and it's brown...

Anyone know why? Any natural remedies?

I have not had my well woman exam in two years and now I'm too scared to go in and do it.

I just started taking a low dose of bio-identical thyroid hormone 4 weeks ago.

I've had some aspects of this--starting/stopping periods, more brownish than I think is normal/healthy, clots, my period has, at times, been more long and drawn out than is normal. A lot of it seems adrenal to me, and after having 2 kids, I was really worn down, a lot of fatigue.

Right now, I'm focusing on taking care of myself--more sleep, less soda (which is having a bigger impact than I expected), continuing to avoid gluten and dairy (eating my food intolerances makes it a lot worse), regular snacks, stuff like that, and once I get into a good routine, I'm going back to our acupuncturist. She asked about stuff like clots the last time I was in, but I had other, more pressing concerns back then so we deferred addressing my weird cycles.

I'm hypothyroid and i used to get this before i got treated. Honestly i think it was just that my body did everything s-l-o-w-l-y, including clearing the lining from my uterus and healing up after. It definitely improved with treatment, but it took me about 4 or 5 months to get on the right dosage to go asymptomatic.
