DS is an army crawler

Is this what babies usually do before they go to full on crawling on their hands and knees? I ask this because DS1 was full on hands and knees when he started crawling so this is new to me. Also, he only seems to use one arm when he's 'army crawling' - his left arm. He'll army crawl, stop, get up on all fours, rock back and forth, and then plop down and army crawl again. It's the cutest thing ever and he just loves doing it. Just wanted to make sure that his gross motor is right on track.

Yup; normal.

My dd didn't do it, but ds did for months before progressing to all fours...it is super cute.

Mine son did this as well. Although he would normal crawl in grass and on carpet. I felt that it was the hardwood that was making him crawl like that. It just seemed easier for him.

mine army crawled. Actually, by the time she really started to crawl for real, she was already starting to cruise around furniture.

Now she crawls when she is playing although she is a full on walker - runner ever. She must be pretending to be an animal or something beause she thinks its pretty funny to crawl around the house quickly when she is in her own world.

My son did that from about 10 months to 11 months when he switched to the regular crawl.
